Organic Fresh-frozen Aroniaberries (Chokeberry), 32 Oz. Package

I bought these berries because of the high levels of antioxidants and possible health benefits. Like several reviewers commented, these taste extremely tart. They are almost impossible to eat plain - They will make your mouth feel like it has turned to leather! But there is an easy answer - Make fruit smoothies. Mixed with other fruits aronia berries have a wonderful taste and beautiful color. For smoothies I use a some combination of the following fresh or frozen fruits: bananas, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, pineapple, apples, and pears. I also add some water or juice and some yogurt or kefir. Of all of these, I find bananas and yogurt are the most effective at neutralizing the tart taste.I bought these berries as a test run to determine whether I want to grow berries in my yard. As a result, I just ordered 12 plants from a nursery called Bellbrook Berry Farm in Madison, Wisconsin. These berries were native to America and grow in almost any condition, even in low levels of sunlight. I was amazed at the service I got from this nursery. Within two days of placing the order I received plants that were carefully wrapped and in 4 inch by 5 inch pots. They were tall and strong and some even already have berries.I'll keep you posted on my growing experience. In the meantime I'll be buying more of these frozen berries either through Amazon or directly from Bellbrook Berry Farm. Don't be fooled by the tartness - They are a gem!

The taste is pretty interesting. I think it tastes primarily like raspberries and cherries, but without much sweetness. It does seem to taste like dirt, but only when it is fresh out of the freezer. When it defrosts, the taste is nice and I had no problem eating a lot of them. I usually set them in a bowl that I would eat throughout the day.As for its position as a health food, I'm not too convinced. It felt like it was giving me more vitality, but as someone with cancer, I noticed it may have actually sped up growth. I think the antioxidants are too high and there is a state of the body called antioxidative stress that eating too many of these will induce. Basically, don't try to push yourself to eat a lot and it should be healing. This product actually made me look into the positive effects of pro-oxidants on the body so I guess everything worked out for the better. My new plan is to eat a wide variety of medicinals from nature all together since so many things have similar efficiencies but they likely each have their toxicity levels and different mechanisms as well.

Package arrived well packed and also included a book on aronia berries, which was very informative. Will pass the book on to educate friends who are not aware of the benefits of this great berry.

Berries were well packaged, but mostly thawed upon arrival. I immediately put them in the freezer, and they seem to be okay.

Was really impressed with the frozen shipping as I bought two packs and thankful for the free book on Aronia berries. I used to buy Aronia berries from another brand at Whole Foods but sadly they stopped carrying any Aronia berries. New loyal customer!

The berries are great and organic, one point to note is that these are frozen berries and perishable. Have to freezed upon receipt. The supplier packed the berries with thermacoal and ice pack to protect them but i received them with 4 days delay due to my apartment's mistake. The supplier was good enough to replace them
