Great for Kindling
I wanted to write this review because I struggled making a decision based on many of the other reviews. This is great for creating kindling from small dry wood... exactly as the description reads. With ease I was able to split dry pine that was approx 10-12" long as well as poplar that was approx 10". To test it I also, I also made kindling from a piece of white oak (straight grain, no knots, and dry) that I cut to about 8" with ease. The blade is the correct sharpness for splitting this type of wood. I read complaints that it was not sharp enough; I had no need for a blade any sharper. It is constructed well, and if used properly will last a lifetime. This was purchased so that one day I didn't accidentally take a hatchet to my fingertip, and to provide my wife with a comfortable way to create kindling as well. She is 5' 2" and has no problems splitting kindling with it either. It did arrive with an extension for the handle, but if it is attached at the correct height for the proper leverage, the extension will likely never be required.

Horrible product
I was excited to put this up and use it. But upon my installation, I noticed there is a major design flaw. The fact the blade is curved up instead of down forces the piece of wood that you are trying to split to slide right out of the holder. You can’t split the smallest driest pieces of wood with this thing. Needless to say I returned it.

Cheap Chinese product
Broke it on the test drive. Only good for store bought, kiln dried wood. At the very least, you have to hit it with an angle grinder to put some kind of an edge on the blade. It’s better than using a hatchet to make kindling for a stick burner smoker, but that’s about it.

Solid build...but defects out of the box
Pros: This thing is pretty sturdy, will be able to break down split pieces of wood into kindling. Nice that it can accommodate several lengths of pieces of wood and has the ability to add on to the handle length. Comes with some lag screws for mounting. The blade is not knife sharp, but sharp enough for log splitting.Cons: Lots of defects out of the box, bent mounting holes, chipped/worn off powder coating, lots of rust on the threads of the handle extension and plug for the mounting hole for the extension. The included lag screws are just basic zinc, will rust and corrode quickly outdoors, plus the included tool is pretty worthless for installation, but for most people buying this, they probably have their own tools so not too big of an issue. The included gloves are trash.

Works when used correctly
I wasn't sure if I would wall mount the splitter, so I tried it first by laying it down. I think I will mount it on a piece of wood - long enough so that I can stand on it for support. It worked fine with the dry pine wood that I used. The size limit is about 12" - anything longer will not work. With the right wood at the right length this works fine.
