Very powerful
Let's start with the power - this thing has a ton of it. The fact it's battery powered with a rechargeable battery is great too. If you need flash outdoors, to overpower the sun perhaps, this should do the trick in a lot of situations. You can attach standard Bowens accessories such as softboxes etc., so that makes this flash very adaptable. It works in TTL with any the Neewer trigger (I used it with the Sony compatible one) and in that regard it works well. Plenty of manual control using the controls on the back of the flash if you don't want to use a TTL trigger though.I'll be honest, I don't actually like the shape. A lot of people have said that's one of the pluses, but not for me. It doesn't affect how good this is, but I'm just not keen on it.The rear display panel is very clear, so changing the settings is easy from the flash. The included carry case is sturdy and holds everything, but it is a bit on the big side (has to be I guess). For me personally, I would probably struggle to use this hand-held with the grip thing they include. It's too heavy for me - but to be fair so is my Sony A7iV these days!I think this is a solid 5 star item, despite not liking how it looks. It does the job and it does it well. I got this because I'll be doing a lot of outdoor portraiture and needed something with a lot of power to cope. This will do the trick nicely. If you need a high power flash with TTL capability at a sensible price, this should be in your sights. The only thing I do wish is that they'd made the TTL system compatible with Godox triggers - I already have those for my other camera systems. The trigger for this Q4 has to be a Neewer one. Not a downside as such, just something to be aware of.On full power this thing is *bright* :)Build quality feels good to me - no worries about it falling to pieces any time soon. It's solid and it feels it.It also has a modelling lamp function and I was really surprised at how bright it was. Useful in a studio setting, I think, although I tend not to use modelling lights. The included reflector clips into place securely and is easy enough to remove when you need to.All in all, a lot to like about this flash package, especially for the price. Similar power flashes are more expensive.

Excellent piece of kit
A lot of research went into choosing this particular equipment and it certainly paid off. This is a really well packaged ensemble of everything you need to have high-quality indoor and outdoor lighting. This is a brand I trust to produce durable nd high quality equipment.Even the most powerful sunlight can be dealt with with the 400 W Outdoor speed light flash. This can be fine tuned to give you very accurate control over your lighting. The portability of the kit when packed up is great and feels safe and protected at the same time. The flexibility and adjustments mean any lighting challenges can be overcome in a professional way. The battery has a large capacity as well which is able to produce up to 400 full power flashes from one charge. The fact that this kit can be easily set up and used both indoor and out is another big bonus as well.

Portable solution to fab Phots
I completely trust Neewer, the company behind this portable free-standing flash and strobe. They’ve never let me down, and this flash is no exception—it's well-built and robust, just like all their equipment. The Bowens mount is just what I was after, as it’s compatible with all my fittings and soft boxes, making setup a breeze. The 2.4g Q system is fantastic for syncing my shots seamlessly. Having this level of portability has genuinely transformed and enhanced my photography sessions. The setup was fast, and connecting was slick. If you’re familiar with Neewer, then you’ll know how everything connects. It’s a beautiful piece of gear, and I highly recommend it to any photographer looking for reliability and versatility.

Another belter from Neewer
Neewer are one of those companies that a year ago I'd never heard of, and now they comprise a good amount of my kit. Everything I've had from them has been rock solid; offering a lot of features at a great price. I get the feeling that this is a company that's working hard to earn a name for itself in a tough market to crack, and they're serious about going above and beyond, to achieve that. For me it's always a big deal, to bring a different brand of light into my gear. I like to keep to just a few brands, to avoid any frustrating conflicts; the kind of annoying delays caused by tracking down adaptors to make this mount fit that softbox, or some other reflector/diffuser. So I was pretty pleased to see the standard Bowens mount on this unit, as that instantly makes the bulk of my attachments work with it.It arrives packed neatly in a big cardboard protective box, inside of which is a smart carry-case designed to store, protect and transport the entire set-up. The case has foam-cutouts containing the Q4 flash strobe, the battery pack, the reflector, a power adapter, and instructions. It's worth noting that to use this, you'll need a Q-Pro wireless flash transmitter which connects to the hot shoe on your camera. I got the Q-PRO N for my Nikon camera. For a completely new system to me, this all went together and connected pretty quickly, with the units finding and talking to each other without issue. I'm not going to say I didn't scratch my head a few times, but in general the system was pretty intuitive and easy to understand and navigate. I referred to the instructions a fair few times, but that's what they're there for, and they were pretty clear and well written. Certainly I think it'll be a good few months before I'd take this out without the instruction booklet!I took the battery to a full charge the day before, ready to use, and didn't run it down in a single session. I'd say if you're using it for flash photography you're probably going to get a full day's work out of it, depending on how trigger-happy you are, of course! It says in the manual that it can produce 400 flashes from a single charge, which puts it up there with most of the big names. The recycle time is also outstanding. This really is a light that's at home in or out of the studio, light enough to be hand held, but still boasting 400W. It's not the lightest unit I've held, but there's a lot going on, with the large-capacity battery and big rear screen for set up. But it sits happily on a reasonably strong studio tripod, and being battery, can be positioned anywhere it's needed without trailing cables. It also offers a complete masking function to separate foreground and background cleanly, something I always look out for, as it's a big time saver. The fact that it has USB-C input to support firmware updating also gives this unit reliable longevity.Really, it's hard to cover everything that this light does in a single review. Certainly I'm pretty sure that after only a few weeks of use, I've barely scratched the surface of all that this can do. But I will say that I'm left with the definite feeling that this light is capable of far more than I'm presently asking of it. I think it'll keep pace with any and all challenges I get thrown at me!This really does feel like a light kit that's looking to challenge the big names in terms of features and capability, and to shake their cages with an outstanding price, for all you're getting. Very happy with it.
