Good eink writing tool
The build quality is very good, the metal back is very reassuring ane this is a solid feeling device. The power button at the top left corner, usb c on the bottom left corner are good for me at least. I'm okay with the pen on the right side. The writing feel is somewhat more slippery than real paper, it's not a issue for me though, just something you notice. There is a clicking/tapping sound whenever you push the pen to the screen, the nib touches the screen and hits back on the pen nib holder. The writing sound is like writing on paper with a pencil but it moves loose, slightly slippery, so at first it was a little odd but I have written many hours on this and don't think about it anymore. The interface for uploading and downloading epub and pdfs is pretty good using the web interface. You just log in to your remarkable account and upload from your computer. I don't like the syncing on the mobile app because it can sync the whole library of your remarkable into your phone if not careful woth settings so I just stick with the web interface.I can send notes/notebooks via email from the device if there is wifi connected, this works very well for me. If you take minutes you can send them to others pretty quickly. The color pens, pencils, markers, highlighters are okay. I only like the Fineliner tip at medium width, the thin is too thin and thick takes up too much space for me. I don't like the other pen/pencil/marker options besides fineliner becuase the pencil feels slow, the markers are too thick, the other pens are too fast and loose to write well with. There are currently only 9 colors available to me, but there is no purple for some reason, which I need. There are only 2 pen choices on the tray at the left side of the screen, I would like to be able to just edit the tray myself becuase I don't use the other features that much and it's very annoying to have to go through the menu to change colors when I do this 8 hours a day. I got the marker plus with the eraser so I don't use the eraser option on the tray panel. There is a free style enclosure which can help to move writing around a page. I don't use the layers option. The undo and redo are sometimes useful but I have a eraser on the marker plus so its somewhat redundant for me.The tags are okay, seems quite basic, you add a tag to the page. The convert to text feature works well if you write at least okay and readable tonother people.I write 8 hours a day, I have about 48 percent left after, it's not enough to last another day, have to charge at night. It can last a work day writing and has plenty left for reading but you would have to charge at night.Reading on the paper pro is fine, it has a backlight that has 5 levels and if you want it brighter, it has a even brighter setting. I read mostly math, science and technology books, the pages move slow but I don't read through these types of books like a novel.I got this over the boox tab x c which is over 13 inch screen size compared to the paper pro's 11.8 inch and I'm happy with that because the screen size is not that big of a deal. Boox has Android but I always have a phone nearby so I don't need Android play store on the writing device. If you need some specific android app for writing, then the paper pro won't have it.

Love it
It really is like writing on paper. If you like to take notes in notebooks or on pads, you’ll like this. If you like taking notes on computers or tablets, you probably won’t like it. You can still use folders to organize everything. There are dozens of templates. I have access to the files on my desktop and phone. $3/mo for the sync, I think. In addition to note taking, I import pdfs and mark them up. For example, I use it to track my workouts. I imported the workout sheets and write in the reps and weight. It’s a great tool if you don’t want to keep all those notebooks anymore. There are plenty of covers that are much cheaper than the reMarkable cover.

Save yourself the trouble
UPDATE:I have returned the item 8 DAYS ago, the item was received at return center the very next day. However, my refund has yet to be issued, just still stuck under “item received” status. The refund issue date that was originally for tomorrow was changed to end of NEXT WEEK, which would put me ant almost THREE WEEKS since I physically returned the item. Not to mention the time it’ll take to actually credit back to my card. Absolutely absurd. Seriously, avoid at all costs.Original:I wanted to love this. I was so excited for it. I’m a student and after a lot of research I felt this would be the best tablet to keep me organized but needed it quickly. I received the item in a timely manner, but it has been a disaster. Immediately upon opening the product, it looked and felt amazing, high quality, well built. However, when I turned it on, it took FOREVER to load/turn on. Then, when it finally turned on, it wasn’t recognizing the marker that came with it for set up. Weird, but will skip that part for now. Then it got to the part of connecting to wifi but it didn’t recognize a single network. Again, weird, but I’ll move on and come back to it. I created a passcode. Then it displayed a “corrupted disk” display and that is all it has done since. I have tried clicking the repair button that is provided on the same screen, multiple times, no luck. I tried manually turning it on and off. I tried letting it charge fully, and I even went to the website and followed the steps of a software restore, still didn’t work even though it got to the last step. Finally, I contacted the manufacturer and they took almost an entire day to respond to each email, which is also a different person each time. They explained they would send a “replacement” in exchange but advised me to strictly avoid sending in anything aside from the tablet (no folio, marker, tips etc) because they will only send a replacement for the affected part (the tablet). Which would be fine, except this likely means I’d be receiving a refurbished tablet, not new and I did not pay almost $700 for refurbished. I even tried to work with Amazon instead for replacement but they said it would have to be through manufacturer. I’m sure the product in theory would’ve been great, but it has failed to meet my expectations despite my best efforts in trying to get it to work and even trying to get a replacement despite the poor first impression. Ill be returning and looking into something different, because spending HUNDREDS of dollars and having to experience a defective product on top of disorganized customer service is crazy.
