Run rings round the opposition
Lovely piece of kit! Only drawback from my point of view is that it cannot cut less than a 5mm radius; but it is easy to hold and to guide. I use mine for cutting discs out of various thicknesses of polystyrene sheet for scratch-building scale models; while I have used it to cut up to 5mm thickness it is better to cut through in several gentle passes than to force it in one: when cutting thick material pace top of pivot in palm of hand and grip the cutting blade firmly to prevent flexing.I also use an old TV turntable (swivel/stand) MULTI-USE ROTATING PLATFORM STAND TURN TABLE so that instead of rotating the compass (which can cause uneven cuts) I can rotate the work while holding the compass steady. The handle doubles as a holder for the spare blades and leads. It is very stiff when new but will hopefully loosen off with use.The 5 to 75mm radius will give discs of diameters 10 - 150 mm but works best with radii greater than 15mm and the blade wanders slightly at minimum radius. The thumbwheel tightens nicely and grips well but has a tendency to slacken off if forced to cut thick material like leather or board. Paper, material, plastic sheet and card all cut easilyReplace blades as soon as they start to blunt, to keep the instrument in good working order. This device could be improved if it was made of metal(e.g. Stainless steel) but no doubt would cost much more. It works really well with thin materials but becomes less easy as things get thicker!

Fantasic little cutter
This is a very easy to use compass cutter. very accurate and very good value for money. I have used this on card and abs plastic. Cutting is very simple,Set the compass to the desired size and simply cut the circle to suit. I am a modeller and have found this very useful. easy measuring and setting on the slide bar. a fantastic tool

Very good - and it *does* come with spare baldes.
I found this very easy to use, giving neat results with paper, photos, card and thin corrugated cardboard so far.If I was to criticise at all, it would have been nice to see some kind of cap to cover the sharp blade when in storage, but at this price, that's just nit-picking so I gave 5 stars anyway.Oh and one reviewer said it didn't come with spare blades but mine did, though they're hidden away in a little compartment on the compass itself which isn't easy to spot if you're not looking for it.

Flimsy and cheaply made.
The compartment holding the lead and spare blades was impossible to close once opened and the body is so flimsy it can't cut anything but the thinnest of paper without bending and making the blade go off the circle.

It works.
If used with care and a bit of practice this compass can cut accurate circles.

Great for card and paper but I had bought it ...
Great for card and paper but I had bought it to try on felt. Sadly it doesn't work as it drags and pulls the fabric. This is still an excellent little gadget, with lots of spare blades, which does a cracking job on quite thick card. I'll definitely find a use for it

Excellent for the price.
This one was the cheapest I found and I could have paid alot more for exactly the same thing. I find it difficult to use and liable to slip on thin paper. It definately needs alot of practice. On the up side I liked the way the spare blades are storded in the cutter itself so they won't have gone missing by the time you want them.

Great Little Gadget
This was a great little gadget, it saves me some much time in have to cut out the perfect circle. It worked well and was easy to use. I would have liked to be able to cut out bigger circles and also it there was a little stopper on the point so that it did not always make holes in the card. But other than that,it went round my colleagues when they saw it in action
