This is a great song. It captures the lonliness of seeing daybreak on your own, but the joy that light and the promise of life will bring. Starting out gently, this surges skyward and comes back down to earth gracefully. It was in my stocking and has woken me up every morning since. I've now got the album as well and it has become a partner. I can't recommend it strongly enough. Review: It's a maggot - In the old musical sense of the word. A maggot was a tune that got into your head and just wouldn't leave. I saw James Blunt when he supported Lloyd Cole and the Commotions at their reunion gig in Glasgow in October. I can absolutely support the earlier reviewer's reaction to James as a support act - he was spellbinding. And this is from someone who would rather go to the bar during a support act. His website tells us that High is about an ex-girlfriend, but it has that airiness and whistfulness that infuses all of his songs. It's not a diatribe against someone that hurt him. It's clear that he's torn between his feelings for her and the certainty that that ship has sailed. Buy "High" and buy "Back to Bedlam" you won't regret it.

Dizzy eights
I can't recommend this one high enough (ouch !). I saw James as a support act to Katie Melua and was hooked which is not usually the case for support bands. High has a deep melody with lots of would you believe it, high notes demonstrating James vocal range. A great song from a great new talent. Check out James album 'Back to Bedlam' for more - it doesn't include the second track on this single.
