Well worth a read if Zack is your taste.
This is the 2nd book in the trilogy, be sure to read Deadly Circus Of Desire first. This series of books is one of the better set of books by Zack. Be warned the book contains graphic descriptions of male to male sex, so it this is not your thing don't buy the book. The book also has some explicit drawings, which is the norm for Zacks book.

Boys of Imperial Rome
I love Rufio and Quintus. These guys are in my new favorite Zack novels the series Boys of Imperial Rome including Satyr of Capri. Wild red head Rufio is sex crazed and does every slave boy in the local house of ill repute. But he doesn't limit himself to prostitutes, he screws everyone from the Emperor to the boy next door. Every once in a while he makes wild crazy love to his partner Quintus because they are so deeply in love—it's lifelong, committed love that will bring tears to the reader's eyes it's so tender of course it's an open relationship so they are so busy screwing every boy they see they hardly have time for each other :). Oh I forgot the story is great too with mystery, deadly danger and endless new adventures. If you ever thought why don't they make intelligent gay smut with really fascinating plots, you need to read the Boys of Imperial Rome Series by my favorite and most beloved fellow homosexual degenerate, Zack.

Darn That Zack!
Well, I have to say that I think I hate Zack! Seriously. I am so annoyed that this book was so much damn fun and so infuriatingly entertaining. So entertaining in fact that it was down right exhausting to read. I mean, this is pulpy erotica right? Who does this enormous amount of research for a trashy erotic pulp novel about Imperial Rome? Zack does! And that makes this novel into a real treasure. There is a mystery that is so compelling it should be in some dark, hard-boiled crime thriller. There is romance and political intrigue and glimpses of daily life in imperial Rome. Just when you think you've got this genre-defying narrative figured out some new element gets added to mix, just to keep your interest peaked. This is non-stop action and adventure as only Zack can deliver and he does so once again. I just realized I forgot to say anything about the gorgeous art! See! That's what is so wrong about this book: there's too much to love and enjoy that you can't even remember to praise everything that you love and enjoy! Argh! It's so frustrating! I am all but breathlessly waiting for the next epic and erotic adventure with Rufio and Quintus in the pages of the upcoming sequel The Wrath of Seth.

Fun Story
Drawings are of course super hot. Wish there were more. (about 30, some 1/3 to 1/2 page, over 320 pages.) Story is fun, well written. A bit overly descriptive of locations and surroundings, not enough interaction between characters. Still, a fun read.

No interior illustrations by Zack, unlike previous editions
The earlier editions of this title, published by Bruno Gmunder, have wonderful interior illustrations by Zack. I bought this paperback under the assumption that it had them, but it doesn't. When I got the book, it stated on the copyright page that this was a "text-only" edition. I wish it had stated this on the Amazon page.

Avoid if you want the artwork of Zack
No artwork, the artwork was basically the reason I bought this.
