Very lightweight, lacks rubber feet or padding. Awesome effects!
Absolutely spectacular gift for any boy or girl or even adult who is fascinated with science and electricity. The ball is amazing! My son saw this at a field trip he had and mentioned it to me. So I knew exactly what he was talking about and I gave it to him as a gift. Unfortunately, my 5 year old daughter was transferring it to another table. She didn't drop it, but her body swiped it and it fell off the table and shattered... Glass everywhere! If it had decent rubber no-slip pads /feet underneath, this would not have happened since she slightly brushed against it with her tiny body. The other thing I wasn't happy with was that the plasma ball would not 'dance' to music. Didn't matter how loud and how many beats, it didn't respond. In that mode, it only responded to someone facing at it with their mouth and yelling. Each yell would cause it to activate for a short burst. That is why I am giving it 4 stars. I accept responsibility and hold myself accountable. But such a lightweight fragile glass device with no sturdy rubber feet to prevent it from sliding? A shame.

Better and brighter now than they were 20 years ago.
I dont know what they make them with now, but it seems...buch brighter and responsive than the one I had back in the late 90's-early 2000s.I remember not being able to really see the light when I had the room light on. This one is a beast. Bright enough to see with all the lights on the room on. Would give it 6 stars if I could.

I love it
It is large works amazing and is so much more colorful than any plasma sphere I’ve seen before. It’s perfect.

Almost perfect
I had an eye of the storm back in the 80's and I got this just on a whim because I used to love listening to music and just watching it dance. This is not quite as good. The old ones had a slider that you could vary the intensity of the activity inside the plasma ball. From one strand to dozens. This one lacks that ability. It's just full intensity which looks very nice but lacks the dynamics of the old ones. Then, there's a mic sensitivity setting on the switch where it will vary the intensity in synch with music that's playing. This seems to be geared only to be triggered by mid bass frequencies and below and then only when listening at fairly high listening levels. So, for me anyway, that setting is relatively useless. Still it's a nice little accent piece and it's still nice to turn on and stare at meditatively.

Nice plasma ball
Just like I expect it. Classic glow ball for decoration or science projects. Also with a very nice price.

Globe Shattered after 5.5 months of use. Buyer Beware.
I bought this Globe in December for my son for Christmas and at first it worked well and he really enjoyed it. Come a few days ago and he went to turn it on and only after a few seconds the ball shattered into pieces. Luckily he did not get cut. I don't know what happened or why it broke like that but I know it it dangerous. I tried to contact support but they have no contact on their page and I checked their help section to no luck. So I figured they would get this review and contact me about the malfunction. I just don't want any9ne to get hurt.

Its okay for the price.
I purchased a used condition ball that lasted less than one day. It worked at first but shortly after stopped functioning. The ball itself is pretty cheaply made and is fairly light. The base is cheap plastic and ball itself also feels made of very cheap material. As for the effects, it is pretty nice visually and will even light up a bulb when you hold a bulb near it. Its fairly sensitive. Unfortunately, I did was not able to use it for very long before it gave out. Maybe because it was used and already had issues I am not sure. Would I purchase a new one?? Probably not. I would rather save my money and purchase a better quality but more expensive ball that will last longer and is made of more durable material.
