1001 Solution-Focused Questions: Handbook for Solution-Focused Interviewing (A Norton Professional Book)

I’m currently an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and serve a community where these questions are absolutely vital. I thoroughly enjoy my work in mental health and this is a book I wish I had received earlier in my beginning steps in becoming a therapist.This was not a book of merely 1001 straight forward solution-focused questions. There are actual chapters that break down many of these questions such as purpose of asking, case studies, possible outcomes and so much more. Toward the tail end of the book you will get more spitfire of these questions where it isn’t laid out by the number, but that’s just the end of the book.This book breaks down questions to use as a therapist, as a supervisor, as a colleague, as a parent, working with dozens of symptoms, working with resistance and I could go on and on in how flexible this book is.I’m so used to reading books that have large numbers on the cover (e.g., 1001 questions) and that’s all it is. I appreciate the authors honesty in how these questions were developed and put into action. I cannot tell you how helpful this book is as a clinical therapist.A good friend of mine had this during graduate school and it’s been 3 years and till this day it’s their go-to read. I have it right next to my nightstand and read and process about 5 questions a night. Absolutely worth it!

As a psychotherapist, I'm primarily an emotion focused and experientially based provider. But I have always seen a need for a more pragmatic arm to my work. So I have extensively researched SFBT which is my favorite secondary approach. It is essentially a humanistic approach to CBT type work and works in a much more collaborative manner than classic CBT does.This is the most clinically helpful book out there on SFBT. The questions are indispensable. It's also one of the best introductions to all the pieces and ideas of SFBT out there. I had a conversation with the author through email and she's very knowledgeable and helpful.Highly recommended.

Bought the Kindle version of this, and blew off the rest of the day reading it.As a practicing SFBT therapist I was amazed at the depth and breadth of what is covered in this book. It is in all respects, a great resource. I always find myself saying "I wish I would have asked that" after sessions, and this will go a long way toward solving this particular problem. But the book is much more than that. You get a thorough grounding in SFBT based on the work of the pioneers in the field, as well as the author's own valuable insights, plus methodologies and protocols for conducting SFBT interviews that will be useful to any practitioner. At fifteen bucks, you can't go wrong. Even if it was a hundred and fifty bucks, you still can't go wrong! Stop reading this. Go buy it now. You won't regret it. I don't care how seasoned a therapist you are, you will in all likelihood find useful material here.

If you are a parent, I would highly recommend this book because it gives a new perspective and tools with which to communicate with your children. It opens up dialogue and keeps communication going during the very challenging and frustrating adolescent years. Though written for the "professional" at times, it is well worth the read and practice if you value your relationship with your children.

I want to say that this book has helped me so much. It allows you to be in tune with this model. I work with kids in therapy and the questions they have for children are awesome. The book also helped me to tailor the more adult questions to children. This book helped me formulate my miracle question!!!!!!

I had an understanding of SFT before buying this book. This book has a lot of SFT questions to help therapist with clients. Needed help with questions for my residency’s role play.

As a clinical psychology doctoral student practicing at a institutional setting I found this book extremely useful. It goes to the point saving me a lot of time, which I don't have. It's written in a simple but meaningful way so that you can understand theory and principles before going to the questions that are presented by general topics to explore. I love this book!!! Titally recommend it!!

I purchased this book for a research paper I needed to write in graduate school. The examples and descriptions were easy to understand and would be accessible to almost any reader. It also offers methods for the psychologist to improve this method. I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in this method or is looking to increase their knowledge.
