AC 220v Surge Brownout Voltage Protector 3600 Watts Air Conditioner (New Model)…

Our area gets many short (1-2 second) power interruptions. I have a surge protector in my breaker box and also a whole house protector at the meter. This past year neither worked and I had to replace two ECM Fan Motors in my A/C Air Handler (these are very expensive motors). Since the motor only draws 5 amps @ 220 volts this was a solution. During interruptions it delayed restoring power until the power stabilized. The latest interruption was more severe and blew out the surge protector however it saved the fan motor.

If you have a product that uses 220 VAC power this will give you some protection if you leave it plugged in. I have a battery welder that cost me over 150 dollars and I don't want to have it come up fried when I use it again in the future so I purchased this product. Most don't Know it, but 220 is just the two hot 120 volt legs of your breaker panel and a ground wire for the third leg to protect. Each hot leg is protected with MOVs and electronic components to remove spikes of voltage from the lines into your product and they work effectively for lesser spikes. Almost nothing will protect against a direct strike at your house, but many spikes occur in the system of delivery and this product will provide protection against those. Good luck. It is worth the cost of less than $20.

This Surge protector did his job already. There was some bad weather and the protector immediately shut the window ac of, for protection! And after 4 minutes, it came in again!

Plugged unit in, the lights on front of unit flash a couple of times, then Red Power-Off light came on. Window A/C unit never got any power from the surge protector. Plugged A/C directly in to outlet and it (the A/C) started running. Tried Protectx-AC220 several more times but still didn't work.

This item is for low amperage (15amp) appliances only. It will not work for Electric Stoves or Dryers, which need much higher power(amps). Don't make the same mistake I did. Package says for 3600 watts, which is only 15 amps! (using 240v)I will probably donate it locally since I do not have any low amperage 240v appliances (air conditioner or freezer)
