PerfectAire PAC6000 6000BTU Window Air-Conditioner for Room Size 15.5' x 16', 250 Sq Ft

It worked perfectly - very quiet.

We bought this at our local hardware store because we have three other PerfectAire air conditioners (different models) and have had no problems with them. We put this 600 BTU unit in our bedroom and the first night, it kept shutting off. It stayed off so long that the room started to get hot. The next day I turned off the auto mode and turned down the temperature, but it still kept shutting off. I phoned the number on the manual and the csr first told me that this model does not exist. I read the model number to her while she talked over me, and then proceeded to tell me where to look for the model number. Once we established that, she told me that this is an old unit that they no longer support! I told her that we just purchased it two days ago. She told me to just turn down the temperature and it should not shut off. Even at 66 degrees, it kept shutting off. I phoned again the next day and was told by the same person that this unit does not have a continuous mode. She said to set the timer and it should not shut off during that time period. She seemed disinterested and in a hurry to get off the phone. I set the timer for 24 hours and went to bed. Twenty minutes later it shut off, I got up, turned it on again, and once again it shut off. it's going to be a huge pain to take it out of the window, carry it down two sets of steps and return it to the store, but that's what we are going to do. Bad air conditioner, poor customer service.

Just got one for my dorm apartment - works pretty well. It's small and fits perfectly in the window, the remote control is a nice feature, and it gets the job done. It was purchased by my school for me, but I think it's worth the cost.

I actually bought this from an offline vendor but I wanted to comment that the price was about the same. I LOVE this little machine! I plugged it in when it was 91 degrees outside and it is in the only window I have (unfortunately, in the sun, but it doesn't appear to be affecting operation as far as I can tell). It's supposed to be used for 250 SF area but I have a 950 SF apartment and with a fan going from the room the unit is in to the rest of the apartment, it cools the entire apartment very nicely. Initial cool off: From 91 degrees, it took 1.5 hours to cool this whole apartment to 70 degrees. I probably don't have it installed right - I didn't drill holes for the screws and braces - just used props and stabilizers to keep it in place but be prepared that there is some installation work required - you'll need a screwdriver and to read the directions (a little) to figure out where the bar attaches, the accordian panels, but that's about it. Easy-breezy.

Dislike. Fan chatter at all speeds. Tried to re-adjust angle to no avail.
