Digital Design and Computer Architecture: ARM Edition

It should be said that this book is a platform. From which someone with little knowledge of digital logic at the start of the book by the end may be able to apply their knowledge to understand in great depth how a microcontroller works - with a specialisation in ARM controllers, although the book begins from a more general standpoint. I would argue that it is particularly aimed at scholars and other academics wanting to learn more about computer architecture but also follows on from the A-Level standard of Computer Science.

I really enjoyed the book. It takes the reader from the very basics of digital design to implementing a (simple) processor. It is written well. The chapter on the processor implementation alone makes it well worth the money.

This book is the greatest book I have read so far in this field. Easily to understand, clearly explained, so many real world examples + much more with interview questions. Most significantly, I love the way the authors have written the books. It just force me to read the whole book at once. I bought this book for my degital electronics and computer architecture class, because the lecture isn't good enough and he said, he'll not teach the computer architecture and design as he's an power engineering professor. But no matter, I learned better, much more things from this book which I'd not have learned from the class. All in all, the greatest book to people who want to self study about degital design and computer architecture.

The kindle version of this book is nearly unusable due to formatting issues. As others have said, it has excellent content, but there is terrible formatting on kindle. The problem is with the tables, figures and additional information, which seem to just randomly appear in the middle of a sentence at times, breaking off the sentence until a couple page turns later. It probably would have worked better if there was a link provided to these instead.

This seems to be a pirated edition. It doesn't have the publisher (Kaufman) against it and any positive feedback refers to another Kindle page which appears to be the official version (at a much higher cost). This is an example of a 'figure' in the book. Essentially it is missing, looks like somebody's notes to actually create one in the future. Hopefully Amazon will remove this.

I got the Kindle version of this that I read using the Kindle App for windows. The book itself it full of useful information but the formatting is not great at all. The book refers to tables that do not appear in actual tables, but instead are awkwardly shaped columns of unaligned information. Figures aren't much better and are awkward to decipher where some "figures" are or if it is just the information surrounding it. Im glad I bought this on a very good sale, otherwise Id be sorely disappointed.

Excelente libro para iniciar sistemas digitales

This is the classic book on the subject. If you want to get your head around Computer Architecture, this is the place to do so.

El mejor libro sobre Diseño digital y arquitectura de computadores, viene el ingles, pero es una completa maravilla, volvería a comprarlo una y otra vez, lo malo, es que viene el ingles, pero bueno, así se practica
