Well, I’ve made a mistake… I picked this up to encourage my 3yo to behave, telling him it refills with treasure whenever he acts nicely. And wouldn’t you know it, the little s%@! found a way to make behaving be obnoxious. I had to tell him it only refills once a week, but I don’t think he believes me anyway, and he’s always trying to sneak a peek.Build quality is good, with a nice artificial patina on exterior. The crumpled velvet liner really makes it feel luxurious, so kids aren’t ever disappointed. The lock is rudimentary, but stylistically nails it too. Overall, really cool.

I really didn't know what to expect when I ordered this chest, so when it arrived, I was blown away. It is so solidly built, with a luxurious velvet interior. The hinges look decent (maybe could have been a bit more robust) and the wood and its finish really give a great authentic look to it. This would make a very cool gift.

Very nice box. Made out of mango wood. Good weight to it and thick walls. Much better than the generic, mass produced boxes that only look like wood (veneer over manufactured wood or particle board). This is actual wood. Lots of style to the box with a velvet-lined interior. The lock is a joke but the lock is just for looks and not meant to seriously keep the box secure - just meant to match theme of box. Very happy with it overall.

My first thought on receiving this was that it was a lot smaller than I expected for roughly 100 dollars. That's on me for not reading the product dimensions, but I'd expected a trunk-sized hope chest, and what this actually is is more of a jewelry box. It's 13"x8"x8.75" so bear that in mind when ordering.I have to say the build quality of this is excellent. The exterior details aren't just painted on, but are actual metal. The wood is thick, and the hinges are metal. The interior is lined with a velvet-type fabric and is slightly cushioned. I believe them when they say this is handcrafted.It's very cute. Now I have to find a use for it. I think a pirate-obsessed kid would love this to keep all their little treasures in.

Chest arrived in its box in another box, so no chance of anything falling out of the original box, but mine was missing the padlock with skeleton keys. HUGE disappointment at that adds so much to the charm of having a pirates chest and why I only gave 3 stars. If I had received the padlock and keys, would have been 5. Otherwise a very nice handcrafted wooden chest, with very nice velvet lining. Fast shipping

This wooden treasure chest is simply beautiful. I chose the large one and it's just gorgeous. It looks like a true antique and could be displayed anywhere in your home. I have mine atop my piano and it is very eye-catching there. The interior has a cushiony red velvet lining. The metal details on the outside are amazing. It's easy to imagine an ironsmith/silversmith making them in the olden days. The skeleton keys lock the lock securely to keep your secret items preserved for your eyes only. This is definitely one of my better Amazon purchases.

This chest is absolutely gorgeous! It’s made of great quality, solid wood and lined with beautiful red velvet. The lock is very authentic looking too. My only complaint is that the lid won’t stay up on its own so you have to hold it when you’re putting things in or taking them out but that’s really a small thing. It’s so beautiful and looks great in my living room. It has an old world antique look even though it’s new. I love it!
