Alexa-Enabled RolliCool COOL208 Portable Air Conditioner 10000 BTU AC Unit with Heater, Dehumidifier, and Fan with Mobile App

My Review of the RolliCool Cool208 portable AC and heater:Unpacking: super simple! Straps hold the box together. Once cut the top comes off and presto the machine comes right out.Set up: again super simple. The instructions are to the point and direct. As long as you follow them. One thing though about the window kit... I found you need to put the screw into part A first (see photo) then thread into part B while putting the two parts together, it goes simply.APP pairing: I am somewhat tech savvy and did this with no food or coffee..so a bit slower then it would take someone super tech savvy. After a few trys it worked. I can now control my device from my phone. Which means I can turn it on from work before I leave for the day. I like this possibility as I will no longer walk into a hot house.Echo/Alexa pairing: yes I do have one and I appreciate it's functions. The Rollicool pairs with Alexa which means I can use voice commands instead of the remote to lower the temp raise the temp or turn the machine on or off.Machine settings: clean and easy to understand and use. Before I got everything paired I turned it on and tested it. Very easy to know if you are on cool or heat mode. It also just has a straight fan setting.It has been on for about 30 minutes now and thw apartment feels cooler and more comfortable. I have it set to 75 degrees cause my apartment internal temp is somewhere in the 80s. In the off mode the machine has a built in thermostat that I could see dropping from 95 to 85 while I was setting it up.

Product was damaged on delivery. Blades were broken off the front and the sides had visible damage. Returned the next day. This review probably has more to do with the shipping. I saw in tracking it go from Texas to Kentucky then to me in San Diego. Within that it was handled about 9 times and showed up broken. Possible packaging design needs to be corrected or new shipping methods are needed because it was a waste of time for all of us.I should add we also bought the 14,000 BTU model which has a different design. This one showed up fine(hopefully, time will tell). Unfortunately we ordered another 14,000 BTU design and that one was broken worse than the first one, and is currently being returned.Our only reason for going through all this is because we have a 5 bedroom home without good heat or any AC, and more specifically we want the Alexa app enabled feature, otherwise we could have gone to Costco and gotten the same machine, minus the damage and the app features. Which is where I’m thinking of going...

I don't usually right reviews but I feel a bit cheated with this product so i had to. Its very hot this summer in LA and i had to get an additional ac for my bedroom. I took a huge leap of faith and bough this AC even though reviews were a mixed bag and the unit was pricier than other units from other companies with better reviews , but for me the biggest need was being able to turn it on an off from an app. I needed to turn my ac on in my room while I'm driving home from work so it can cool while i get there. Unfortunately, pairing the ac with the app is not working for me. The app sees the unit, i start pairing, I get to "setting..." phase and then i times out every time. I've chatted with their support team, called a few times and the best they could offer is "the Bluetooth module might be faulty, send us the ac so we can check it". We just had a high temperature of 115 f here and sending it to them for weeks so they can check it creates a bigger problem for me than no Bluetooth. Everything else with the unit is ok, it works as intended, cools my room down quickly, it is a bit loud, but its to be expected. It fits nicely into corners becouse of its square shape and is pleasing to the eye. If Bluetooth worked id give it a 5 star review but as it is right now, i just cant.

The unit does cool, however, it has a lot of other issues. First of all, it arrived with a broken control panel button. The one for turning up the temperature did not work at all. Secondly, Heat escapes from the back, despite the vent being properly connected to the rear of the unit and vented out of a window. It seems as if there should be a gasket provided to keep air hot air from leaking through where it tube attaches to the back. This makes the corner of the room behind the unit quite warm. Third problem - The Alexa app compatibility is a total joke. It does not work at all. You must first download the RolliCool app, connect the unit to your wifi, and then sync it to the Alexa app. The unit never would connect to the wifi, making that function useless. Despite these problems, I gave it a try for a week, since I took the time to set it up, but in the end, I decided to return it. There are better products out there.
