I am an experienced amateur who has and uses top line equipment on a full frame DSLR. Sure I didn't learn a great deal new from this but I found it interesting and it focuses knowledge. For me an excellent book to return to and browse. I am sure that less experienced or knowledgeable photographers will find it a good route out of "point and shoot" into better photography. I suggest that you disregard some of the elitist claptrap in other reviews.

This book was great value, with some great ideas to improve my photography.

As a reasonably experienced Photographer this is perfect to help me develop my photography further. It is well laid out and very well explained. To help potential buyers assess the level, I recently completed a ten week OU course on photography and am working towards my LRPS.

Fantastic book nice ideas to try out.

I bought this in the hope that it would be more advanced than most photography books on the market. It does touch on more specific details but I really wouldn't say it was for an advanced photographer. It still explains things like what ISO is and has two pages to cover each possible subject so it doesn't go in depth on any one thing. Astro photography 2 pages, architecture photography 2 pages, Landscape photography 2 pages...etc. I wanted something more. The title tricked me, I thought it meant Guide for advancing photographers, not advanced photography for beginners and beyond...

Very well laid out book. Some thought was put into this. Found it to be very informative and easy to follow. Ideal for those who want to improve their photography skills.

Initial Impressions: Great quality printing on good quality paper. I will update this review after reading the whole book.

This is a great resource. I am a experienced amateur photographer but still found this to be both quite readable and full of insights that are very helpful! It highlighted things (like the proper use of colors in an image and how exactly your sensor works) that are well worth understanding. A great book worth going through again and again!

This was a gift for my sister-in-law, who is an avid amateur photographer. She loved the book, and said it included several techniques that will improve her photography.
