Retail Options Trading

The best introduction to options trading for retail traders
This is hands down the best introduction to options trading for retail traders. Euan Sinclair and Andrew Mack are the real deal – active traders with actual skin in the game. Sinclair has a ton of experience in both institutional and retail trading, and his previous books on options trading are often cited as some of the best out there. Mack is well-known in the sports betting world and is also an accomplished retail trader. So unlike 99% of the trading books out there, this one is written by people who actually trade for a living and have real, actionable insights to share. The book zooms in on the most important part of trading: finding an edge. It gives a general roadmap for where retail traders can spot market inefficiencies, then dives into specific examples on how to identify these inefficiencies and what kind of option trade setups can exploit them. This is a goldmine for anyone who wants to see what a money-making trading strategy actually looks like. None of the ideas are based on overfitting past data with a mess of indicators – it's all about clear data analysis driven by market microstructure. There's also a solid intro to the basics of options, plus sections on risk management (with tips on position sizing using the Kelly criterion) and trading psychology. These chapters are nice extras, but as the book keeps reminding us, finding an edge is the most important concept in trading. I don’t know any other book written for retail traders that offers such a practical, realistic guide with examples for finding an edge in options trading. Highly recommended for anyone looking to level up their options trading game!

If you're serious about trading, these authors are among the few truly worth reading
I haven't finished reading the book yet, but I can definitely attest to the benefits of learning from real practitioners rather than academics or dubious 'experts.' I've learned so much from Euan's books, so I was eager to buy this as soon as it became available. I'm sure that even if you're not into options, you'll pick up a thing or two on how to approach the markets.

Disorganized draft quality book
Starts simple with great examples but immediately jumps to advance topics never discussed. Has errors and placeholders authors never completed. Overall this book reads like authors billet points of journals

Read it
i've read a few of the classic books on options trading and have found this book to be much more practical. If you are serious about options trading it doesn't get much better.

Mandatory Reading
Getting a book from these two authors on this topic is a rare treat. The book is full of useful information, both theory and examples. If this book was an online course it would probably cost thousands of dollars, so this price is a steal.Just buy it, you wont regret it

Quality book
Solid options overview by Euan and Andrew.Mostly tailored towards short term trading (1mo or less). I will say a lot of this content can be found by watching Euan's videos on youtube... With that being said, think this book is likely written mostly by Euan with Andrew contributing the stat analysis portions (guessing)... Thought psychology section was decent as wellMore $ can be made trading delta than vol, imo. But still good info to know

Concise, Insightful, and Grounded in Real Expertise
I’ll admit upfront: being familiar with the authors’ work, I’m likely biased. But that aside, this is a fantastic book. It strikes a rare balance between accessibility and depth, making it easy to read without sacrificing substance. There’s clear effort in synthesizing meaningful insights, which I greatly appreciate. It’s the kind of book you’ll enjoy unpacking and revisiting, thanks to its clean, no-fluff approach.Euan and Andrew deliver more than just the basics of options. They outline where true trading edges lie and complement this with broader trading principles like risk management and position sizing (inc. the correct way of computing the Kelly Criterion for continuous bets). While it doesn’t spoon-feed readers ready-made trade recipes, it does highlight actionable concepts like the Volatility Risk Premium (VRP), which every serious trader should know. The credibility of the authors shines through, reinforced by endorsements from trading legends like Kris Abdelmessih and Tina Lindstrom (ex-SIG). Knowing the people behind this book, I’m confident they’re neither misled nor misleading - a rare trait in a field often clouded by noise. In a world where many works add pages but not value, this book stands out for its clarity, substance, and actionable insights. An essential addition to any options trader’s library - or for any trader, really. And as a bonus, it’s an easy, light read despite the depth of its topics, making it a true pleasure to dive into.

An awesome body of real life knowledge
I really like the no nonsense approach of the book. It clearly says what it is or what it is not. It’s not for your if you’re very new to options. It’s definitely for you if you’re a retail options trader and have basic knowledge and understanding of options. For latter, this is worth many times the books price.

your personal internship with trading pros
One of the biggest asymmetries in trading, is that retail traders don't get the education on the things we don't know we don't know. It is incredibly hard to distinguish good advice from bad, and learn about topics that you've never even heard of or thought about. At least if you work at a trading firm, the experts teach you what they know.Treat this book as your 1-week internship, shadowing experts in their fields. You will be set up with the right mental models to navigate the rest of your trading life. Euan and Andrew are the real deal.Chapters 12-16 teach a robust framework for thinking about and investigating anomalies (with specific examples!), and provides the necessary insight for asking the right questions. As someone who's looked far and wide for this kind of information, I can attest to its rarity. Perhaps I was looking in the wrong places, but that's partly the problem this book solves. Now you have it between 100 pages, available on Amazon. This book does not tell you what to trade, nor does it go into the details of any specific strategies. It teaches you how to think and I think that makes all the difference.
