Disappointed by portrait to landscape swivel function
I bought this to fit onto an old Joby Gorilla tripod I used with a DSLR now that I am using an iPhone 13 more than my camera. Unless you place the phone very high in the cradle in portrait mode, the long screw which adjusts the tilt appears in wide angle shots. You therefore need to take the phone out of the cradle so that its camera lens sits at the other side when moving from portrait to landscape. Two adjustment screws of the same length would avoid this problem and allow the phone to be gripped in the centre, which is more stable.

Sturdy but could be easier to use
I went for this model due to the previous reviews. I can’t say I regret it as it is sturdy and I have full confidence that my phone is safe and secure. However, I can’t help but feel that it’s all a bit fiddly to get the phone in and positioned correctly. I would probably try something different if I needed another in the future.

Expensive yes but all good things are.
Well made. Light and compact. Made of aluminium alloy so it can endure some abuse. I also like the fact that you have the option to choose between holding the phone in portrait and horizontal orientation. You can also adjust the tilt as well, separately (probably for displaying purposes other than photography). However, the holding "claw" is tightened by twisting a knob which does two jobs at once: It controls both the "holding-on-to your-phone" AND its orientation. It is not quick-detachable because it's "pro" (secure) so you have to decide if you want to attach your phone whether in horizontal mode or portrait mode BEFORE you attach it, and tightening that knob makes it final - god forbids if your phone rang when it's mounted or you will have to pick up the whole tripod to answer that important call! It's over-simplication which betray its "pro" badge. Why can't the holder be a quick detachable claw which is pivoted so you can quickly mount/ dismount your phone and be able to adjust the tilt SEPERATELY and ON THE FLY, is it too much to ask?I would still recommend it as the build quality of this holder is still very professional and I can see it outlasting than ten or more of the cheap plastic holders on the market at a tenth of the price. If you want a sturdy holder that will very securely hold your phone on a tripod then it's definitely the product for you, but be prepared to pay iron price for it and also sacrifice a little bit of time and patience when working with it

Almost perfect ...
For the most part, this is a great product and is well made. I mark it down however, due to the mechanism that grips the sides of the phone. This is comprised of two sliding plates that can be squeezed together to grip the phone by its edges and then held in position by tightening a screw-knob. These plates do not slide smoothly and are somewhat sticky and grate in their movement. When squeezing them together, they sometimes stop, due to sticky friction points in the travel, leading to the false impression that they have reached the point where they have got a good grip on the phone. On three occasions I have tightened up the rear knob to secure the phone, only to find that it slid straight out and landed on the floor. I think this problem could easly be cured by using a different style of metal plate that slid properly without glitching. I have managed to improve thing a bit by apllying a very sparse coating of grease to the plate. Not really the way to go but it works - sort of.

It holds, it rotates, it hot shoes, it be good!
Love this phone holder! I left the older version (without the hot shoe) on a train a wee while ago and tried a cheaper model - what a fool I was! Recently replaced it with this newer version and love it. Being able to quickly flick between portrait and landscape is brilliant, the grip holds my iPhone pro max 11 in place with a thin Moment Lens case on and the addition of the hot shoe means adding a mic or light is now something I no longer have to dream about, huzzah! It’s a little pricey compared to other models but y’all will get what you pay for. This is 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌 Top Banana!

Handy holder
Good sturdy little holder - I use mine with the iPhone 12 but its adjustment would allow it to work with a wide range of phones. Simple to clamp the phone in and a good grip ensures it stays put. Nothing fancy just a good quality holder that allows plenty of adjustment. I’ve used it with full size and tabletop tripods. It’s allowed me to get some wildlife close ups by setting the phone up on a tripod and using the Apple Watch as a remote control for the camera. Robin tweeted his approval too…..

Excellent quality
This is a beautifully made phone clamp. Most of it is rubberised or non slip grip and the lock knobs are surfaced in softer grippyness. Stainless steel is used for the sliders. It holds an iPhone 7 plus in a Spigen case without problem and would hold a wider one. What is also good is that it is so easy to load a phone into it and to sensitively clamp it in. No springs of dubious tension or screw clamps of crushing force. Simply slide the jaws apart, pop the phone in and slide the jaws together onto the phone at the grip you need. Then lock in place. Comforting for owners of phones with screens that wrap around the sides. The phone can be swivelled 90 degrees in the horizontal and around 110 degrees in the vertical. One thing to watch out for: the lock screw for the jaws also locks the 90 degree swivel so the phone could slip out of the jaws as it is being rotated. One learns to hold the jaws together onto the phone while rotating, which, by the way, is reassuringly smooth and slightly resistant.Excellent piece of kit, excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
