Sony PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition

Very happy to have gotten my hands on the 30th Anniversary edition. It definitely outshines the regular white Portal aesthetically, starting right from the unboxing experience. Removing the screen protector with the PS1 boot screen is not an easy feat (mentally). The colour is beautiful and the original PlayStation logo is something I wish I could see on all new PS consoles once again.Coming to the gaming experience, a stable WiFi connection is definitely a must. What also makes a big difference while streaming from the PS5 on your local network is the number of devices crowding the same network. I had to install a mesh network and hardwire the PS5 to get a seamless connection. Streaming on the go using mobile data is not a particularly pleasant experience. It should also be noted that since Cloud Streaming is still not supported in India at the time of writing this review, streaming from the PS5 is the only option for the device. The display despite being an LCD is quite good and the speakers are fairly decent although for a good experience one would need the Pulse headset or earbuds (the Portal does not support Bluetooth). Also to keep in mind is the fact that only games can be streamed from the PS5 and nothing from the Media section.

Its a really nice good quality made device - and once connected to your PS5 or using cloud streaming - it’s fantastic - the controllers are great and Taptic feedback is greatBUT and this is a big BUT - you must have a very good internet connection - without that the device is uselessWorse though is that the package it came in was terrible - and the Playstation Seal on the box had been opened both ends! Why??

Inside product is fine but what i hate the most about is how the seal was already broken. Its supposed to be a limited edition console and the broken seal is a big no. And just because of that I’m giving 1 star. Totally disappointed amazon 👎

Cloud streaming service not available in india and it won’t work on this device so please if you are buying it for cloud streaming service (i.e to play without ps5) dont buy it… thanks
