Travel to the abandoned forests in Austria, where what appears to be devastation is the process back to its natural state. The most salient change is the return of the lynx. The feline's presence is a testimony to nature s power of revival.

Excellent footage of unseen action that takes place in a forgotten forest.
Being a conservacionist and animal lover like me is very pleasant see a great documentary like this and better yet knowing that the gracefull beautiful LYNX is back to stay. It shows that if we let the forests alone they will follow the natural cycle of life, death, and rebirth and like is shown the lynx will be back to live in the enviroment of his ancestors. Another nature masterpiece for PBS !!!

Forest and the Lynx
Too much about conserving the postage stamp of a plot in Austria and not nearly enough about the lynx. The forest is precious and necessary; in Thunder Bay, ON, Canada are heavily deforestated but still have a healthy lynx population. Open fields and people bring rabbits (along with tasty small dogs and cats that should be left inside).Forest stewardship is important, but, please, assume that the purchasers of a PBS documentary have been clubbed with man's inhumanity to the natural world and just show the wildlife. It's escapist and soothing, if the moralistic tangents could stay out of every nature documentary.

Forest of Alps...
Austria’s Kalkalpen National Park is the largest tract of wilderness in the Alps and at night, one of the darkest spot on planet earth. This documentary is more about the the process of life with spruce trees and all its habitats than lynx. Three years in making, offers scenes that I have never seen before, real amazing survival scenes of complex partnerships among plants, insects, animals and trees. Kalkalpen is so rugged and steep that capturing even one scene looks impossible less alone all the scenes that they have been able to capture in three years. Bravo.

I learned a lot about forests.
It is a good documentary on a forest in Austria, but I was disappointed by how little the lynx was featured.
