Perfect for casting rings
I am just starting out with metal casting and silversmithing, so this pewter is perfect for nice small casts that I can work with stone jewelry. The hubby does some small casts for gun barrels so we already have a small setup for casting, so it was very easy to modify for small sand casting using this material. This is a set of fifteen 1 ounce beads that are perfectly sized for small casts for pendants, rings, and earrings. I'm using for rings specifically as I wanted something with a low melting point for our very simplistic casting setup with flask and petrobond, using a 3d printer for design of the impressions. This is a great choice as its lead free, great quality, and easy to melt. Anyone interested in sand casting your own jewelry can easily use this nice quality material for DIY hobbies. Very happy with this product.

Neat for DIY
I plan to use this as practice metal for casting projects.I've always liked pewter ornaments and things, I hear it can contain lead, so be careful.

Good for making metal parts not under stress
I do quite a bit of lost pla casting, mostly in aluminum. If I'm just making something decorative this would be a better choice, and I have some such item in the queue now.

Weighs in at exactly 15oz, no Pb (lead)
These pewter semi-spheres shipped quickly and upon arrival weighed in (no box, no packaging) at exactly 15oz. Always suspicious of made in China products, I subjected them to a lead (Pb) test after scratching the surface of one unit. Pleasantly surprised to find no lead. These will work nicely by themselves and when alloyed with some copper for more of a brass situation. BE CAREFUL WHEN HANDING! - there are some sharp points on these hemispheres left over from the pouring process which resulted in an uncomfortable stab in the finger - thus only 4 stars.

Perfect for casting
These are a nice heavy pewter. My husband does all the metal casting and he loves working with it already! It doesn't have any lead, so he's safe. I was shocked at how heavy it all was when we got the box. The shapes are perfect for fitting into his little casting bowls. They seem to melt well and be exactly as described.
