Snakes of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East – A Photographic Guide

This was for my son who thought he knew everything about every snake, until he got given this book.Highly recommend.

There are several ID books on the reptiles of Europe, but the coverage of N Africa that this book provides is very valuable. Good photos and descriptions.

One of the reviews on the back cover of the book states, ..easy to use distribution maps. Which l completely disagree with.The maps are so ridiculously small and useless. No room for place names just a vague area marked in red. Maps should be larger than these if they are going to use them, so they can have area names properly presented. That is my only gripe the species photos and description are first class. If this book is ever revised in future they should consider enhancing those useless maps

This book is great and highlights all the species found in the region. Lots of information and very thorough considering the number of snakes covered. Good read for anyone interested in learning about snakes in Europe!
