Algoma 4750BR Hanging Chair Stand

This product arrived on time as per request. The box was a little beat up, but it was heavy so I did not think much about it. This was to be my 14 year old daughter's birthday present along with a hanging chair for her room. When we opened it, there was damage to the base platform in paint, which was thick like a baked coating. The damaged was on all four legs which would indicated it may have been dropped hard and even with the bubble wrap the shock was enough to break through the coating. When I contacted the manufacturer, the line manager told my contact that he would send paint to repair the base. I had my doubts, but agreed to try the solution. They sent me auto repair paint which you can purchase at a local auto parts store. The type you can apply with a pen point or brush. To my surprise it worked really well, and with a few more coats the damage will not be seen at all.The unit was easy to assemble and came with all the components to hang the chair immediately. We have had to tighten the unit a few times, which I may need to use some Loc-Tight or something similar if it continues. The unit is heavy duty and is sturdy enough for safety and comfort. My daughter loves it and will enjoy it for years to come.I stand by this purchase and the manufacturer stands behind its product.

Overall the stand works as advertised hence the "OK" rating. Things to consider:Installation (3 of 5): Simple, but be prepared to spend about 10 minutes using the included allen wretch to tighten the long bolt attaching the base and the lower arm. There is only enough room to run the wrench 1/5 of a turn due to the space between the base legs. The bolt is difficult to turn so you can't insert the long end of the wrench into the bolt head. Recommend using a nut driver with the proper sized hex bit.Use (4 of 5): It would have been nice if the chair stand was taller. We attached a rope weave chair bought overseas to the hook. My 195lb frame stretched the chair so my rear rested on the base. You may need to shorten the attachment rope or jury rig your chair as we did. The simple rope chair was not comfortable to sit in - I felt like someone who had been caught in a net. I'm positive the fancy nylon chairs sold here at Amazon would be more relaxing.Quality (2 of 5): The chair may be power-coated steel but the color masks places where the coating had been nicked. Two days by the pool resulted in 3-4 very noticable rust spots.

I combined this stand with a rope chair made by the same manufacturer. I assembled this stand correctly, going as far as bolting to the deck. However, even though everything is tight, the piece that goes into the base assembly rocks back and forth "slightly", and is very annoying. I am not swinging hardly at all...just a slight forward and back motion. I ended up cramming a small piece of 4x4 under the curved portion of the unit to ease the rocking somewhat. This helped slightly. Too bad you have to modify the unit to use it. As I stated, everything is as tight as can be. Also, a washer was missing in the hardware pack (no biggie...this happens sometimes). Overall, aside from the rocking, the unit is made of quality material, and is easy to assemble. I may take it to work, and weld the pieces together. This will surely correct this issue of rocking.

when the chair stand arrived, it was not the color that was advertised and we had wanted, and for several days i was distressed as i got no reply from the company, when trying to electronically contact them as instructed. Amazon was going to arrange the return, but i eventually found the supplying company's phone number through Google, and once i got to talk to actual people there, they were most helpful and accommodating. in the end, we are pleased with the chair stand we received and would order through them again.

This dark bronze, sturdy stand was exactly what I hoped for (reasonable price, quick delivery, easy assembly, very attractive)-- EXCEPT I'm hanging a hammock chair that stretches when someone sits in it. You bump your bottom on the lower bar! I like the stand too much to send it back and am now trying to figure out a way to tie the chair up higher. MEASURE THE HEIGHT AND HANGING SPACE YOU NEED!

Exactly what it says it will do is what it does! I received 2 of the Algoma chair hammocks in Aggie maroon color as gifts from work. One went to my in laws ranch and hangs from a beautiful pecan tree in the back yard.The other? it hangs from this awesome stand on my apartments balcony. The stand is steady and allows me to rock back and forth and I cannot even express how many times I have fallen asleep outside swaying gently in the wind. This stand is a life saver for a chair hammock while apartment living. I spend about 10 hours a week in it :)

decent enough-- seems good and sturdy--but two gripes:1. like someone else mentioned-- somehow the main tube gets water in it (if outside obviously)--leave the bottom cap off maybe?2. the ends of the "feet" could be better ground down as not to jab your foot/toes into

I should have listened to other reviewers. Anyone that sits down in the hammock experiences a pole going up their butt. I try to ease the discomfort by putting a cushion on the hammock, but the purpose of the hammock is to relax, and it is hard to relax when your butt is scraping a metal pole. What is worst is there is no way to adjust the height of the hammock or the stand. I thought about sending it back, but the shipping costs as much as the product. This was not one of my best on-line purchases.

Heavy duty stand, more than expected. Received with some scratches.

Excellent product....very high quality and heavy duty....well worth the money!!!
