We recently switched to Vectra after a family member suggested it. They live in a heavily wooded area full of ticks, and have had no issues with their dogs. We live in a suburban area, and our dog had at least two ticks on him last year. We have been using Frontline for years, but after seeing ticks, it was time for a change. We've been using Vectra for about 3 months now, and haven't seen a single flea or tick so far. We take our dogs camping a lot during the summer, so a good flea and tick preventative is important. I also like that this doesn't leave a chalky white residue after it dries.Edit: We've been using Vectra for over a year and a half now and still no fleas or ticks on either dog! We've now added a third dog (Corgi) to our home and will be sure to order some for her too. It's well worth the money.

My poor dogs were going crazy with fleas...We tried everything natural and nothing worked, including DE, Salt/baking soda, non-toxic sprays, constant flea combing and daily vacuuming... We finally opted for the Hot Shot chemical foggers (4 to a box). Took the dogs to the groomers during fogging and applied the Vectra 3D Blue after. No fleas!! It has been a week and still no fleas on dogs. Will take them to the groomers and fog again in a month (if we see even one flea), but we put the Vectra 3D on again, even if we don't see one. Both of my Aussies have the MDR1 gene so was afraid of putting anything on them that they would react to. One of them has severe allergies and flea dermatitis, so was reluctant to use this product. So glad we did. No side affects at all, and we watched them closely after putting it on them. This is a product that truly works. NOTE: My friend is trying it, without the fogging first, so will update this after a week or so to see if the Vectra works for her without the fogging.

Unlike NexGard and other flea and tick preventatives that your dog eats, the ticks don't have to bite to die and it reduces mosquito and black fly bites. I am in Maine, which is mostly wetland and has a ton of ticks and biting bugs. We tried NexGard and the dogs would drop live ticks all over the house, and the population didn't decrease at all. We had used Vectra 3D for years, but switched when the vest offered the edible as it is easier, but my dogs also vomit from it.Some people worry that the topical doesn't work if the dog gets wet. Nope -- if you check the product site, you need to keep your pet out of the water for 6 hours, 24 being better, but the if they go swimming it isn't a big deal. My dogs go kayaking and jump in a lake often, and it is still the most effective product we have used. Yes, it leaves an oily stripe the first day after application, so I brush them well the day after and you would never know they had a topical application.
