This is a beginners book. It's OK for learning the ropes, but I (as an intermediate painter) didn't find the paintings or the projects inspiring. I prefer the offerings from North Light Books.

Straight forward well illustrated introduction to materials and techniques in using these 3 media, with specific subject exercises for each of them.

Grear book for painters of all expertise levels. Gives tips, tricks, and advice for different ways to paint, with pictures to show you what they mean.
