Great Value, good experience, pleased.
Solid performance at a very good price. Bought it to move a 10X14 foot shed (circa 3200 pounds) on gravel, worked pretty well until the skids dug in and started plowing which stopped it -- winch labored -- and then pulled by Ford F250 Crewcab (in park) over the 4x4 blocks. (only blocked the front tires. I know I should not have had it in park, but I did not anticipate a 6500 pound truck would be the thing that would move. The power cables are short. I added a quick connect, and then bought a 25 foot 2 gauge jumper cable, cut off three feet (leaving 22 feet) and added quick to both pieces. The jumper cable clamp on the battery and quick connect worked fine and allows me to use the winch in the front or back, or connect the cables back to together for a 25 jumper cable. Used remote out at 50 feet from winch, love it and worked well. Winch clutch did not free wheel-- or I am not strong enough to pull out. However, in reality it is not a problem to power out, especially with the remote in hand. I feel good about the purchase and that this meets my needs. Product seems well made and solid. I wish it had two remotes in case one fails but it still has the hard wired control. I would buy again and recommend.

Have yet to use it but installed and appears to work
I realize I was trying to get the biggest winch I could for my car which has the winch mount plate behind the front bumper. This winch is about 70+lb and difficult but not impossible for one person to install. The only real issue I had is it has a rather large clutch mechanism that sticks up 1 1/2” to 2” above the winch. This was too much to fit my truck. I decided to remove the clutch and fabricate one that was more flush with the winch (my recommendation to the manufacturer) but when I removed the existing clutch and installed the winch to see how much clearance there was that I would have I realized I could reinstall the original clutch after installing the winch. My limitation was only during the install because the gap between the radiator and winch mount was too small.I have yet to really test the product but it is installed and appears to work. I tested the remote and the wireless remote and both appear to work fine. I will update my review after a practical test using the winch power.

Outstanding value. Battery cable is short by about a foot
Prior to purchased the BOAR winch for my new JEEP Wrangler, I’d the WARN on my Sahara and was recently sold, Warn is much more expensive doubled the price or more depends on what model with excellent reputations. I’d no intention of doing any off-road and for the esthetic, keeping the price on the low side including Synthetic rope made it extremely attractive. The Boar winch worked perfectly without a hitch. Two things to note. 1. There were several small scratches on the winch plate. 2. The battery cable for the positive side is short by about a foot unless you routed it differently and scrappped the looks. Company Does not offer longer cable but did offer few dollars adjustment. Overall, I am happy with this purchase.

Great product at a terrific price
I installed this on my 2003 Jeep TJ. It took about 1 hour to install. Instructions are strait forward. Packaging was great. Worked like a champ after wiring it up. And did I mention great price..

Fine product
I bought this In Jan of 2019 for $328. I just pulled my 4500 lb TJ up my 15 degree driveway without a problem. Worked as expected. It was a breeze to install on my, I think it's a Rough country, bumper. I like the color coded terminals on the motor. (Dummy proof for folks like me). The remote switch is a nice feature. My other TJ has a Warn 12,000 lb winch which I have yet to use other than pulling myself up the same driveway.I am an avid off roader. I have done about a dozen recoveries in the Las Vegas desert but only once used my winch (Turtled Jeep). Generally I use a recovery strap for ease. Re spooling winch cable can be annoying. With that being said, I am left wondering the difference between the two. I looked at the $800 Warn and noticed a 28 lb difference between the weight of these two units. The Warn has 2.3 extra feet of 3/8 cable. I'm not sure of the gauge of this cable, but I'm guessing it's pretty similar. But where is the difference in weight. I'm hoping it's not in the gears.I bought this because the Jeep I put it on has a 6" lift and lockers on the front and rear. I doubt I'll ever need it, but winches are like firearms; It's better to have one and not need it than to need it and not have one.Is it worth spending an extra $500 on the Warn? That's up to you to decide. I'm very happy with this one for my needs.

Dangerous but used to look good
The media could not be loaded. I have only had this for 6 months and it has already come unattached from the supports, one support is missing and all screws to support the winch.Didn't have issues with the function of the winch (in fairness never had to pull anything with it, but tether went out and in ok).But it has definitely become a safety issue now. If this is the external quality, makes me wonder how solid the function of the motor would be after actually using it.

Good pulling power without a straight...
This winch has already became useful. Within days of the "simple" install, I was driving down the west coast of the island of St Croix where I live, and found a tourist that though Jeep meant all terrain... The winch unlocked, and freespooled to a 50 foot distance, as designed perfectly. It pulled a four door Jeep Jk (just kidding jeep) out of the sand, sunk to the hubs, with no strain at all. It made me feel good to try this, before I was in a spot to need it myself. Sure hope after this good review it doesn't fell me later...Ps I have a Jeep TJ (tough jeep)

Powerful
This is a powerful winch. I love it. One of the leg sections broke on my first use. It looks like it may have had a manufacturing blemish, which rarely happens, but I contacted the company and thy sent me a replacement right away. I was surprised to receive it in just a few days. Thank you Isa and Off Road Boar. You guys rock!
