Celebrating Home: A Time for Every Season Hardcover – 9 August 2022

Not only is this book beautiful but also very informative. The pictures of rooms, yards and gatherings are lovely . James Farmer is one of the best designers of present day. His rooms have soul.

Before you donate, or dispose of anything, get this book. This book is most inspiring, so much so, I purchased all 3 of his home decor books. The creativity is magical.

There are some lovely photos of gardens and interiors and table settings in this book but it all gets a little repetitive. The same format is used for every section and includes multiple pictures of the same table setting over and over again. One gets the sense that this is purely created for the book, as there are no guests present. Recipes would have been nice. The text is fairly bland and focuses on talking about seasonal flowers. I largely gave up reading it after a while as you can only wax lyrical about a dahlia for so long!

I thought it would be more interiors. Very disappointing particularly as there were no recipes to go with the photos of the food. So what was the point?

Between the inspiring images and the joy they are to read, I enjoy regularly reading his books and even fold a few corners down that are inspiring new decorating projects. Reading his books is like being a guest at his parties (almost)!
