Supports more than 60 memory cards and has USB 3.0
I have one of these on all of my machines, they’re great. Unfortunately I have found that Windows 8 occasionally looses the sight of the device and I have too unplug and re-plug the device for Windows to recognise it. Which is a bind as the lead is internal. I’m sure it’s Windows 8 that’s causing the problem as the device works on my Windows 7, Mint and Mageia Linux machines with no problems. The Icy Box IB-865 3.5 inch Multicard Reader has a USB 3.0 Hub Connection IB-865; Just connect the 20Pin USB 3.0 cable to the internal USB 3.0 connector on the mainboard, then you can read and write over 60 different kind of memory cards. Obviously the transfer rate is much faster than USB 2.0 connection. It also has an integrated USB 3.0 front interface for a better usability. It works well and supports more than 60 memory cards. There’s no drivers required. It fits into a standard 3.5" drive bay and is easy to install. There’s no dislikes, it looks good and does its job, just be aware of the possible Windows 8 issue.

CF slot badly made and not working - returned
It was promising at first - nice finish, good fit. The USB3 port worked fine. The SD slot was ok although I was mindful of the metal strip that the card could snag on unless inserted at a slight angle - and it certainly was fast. The CF slot is a disaster though. The little plastic guide rail on one side was much thicker than it should be making card insertion very difficult. The card went in on an angle bending a pin. I straightened the pin and managed to get the card in properly, but it just refused to work (both Win7 and linux showed IO operations timing out). Checked the pins were still ok and they were. Glad Amazon return process is so slick. Have ordered a different brand.

Icy Box IB-865 Card Reader with USB 3.0 Hub - Things Change!!
Very Happy with this little bit of kit!.I recently had to build a PC to replace my Laptop that went 'POP', and as I work from home and need to transfer a lot of data from My office PC to home, and I have various Cameras etc... I wanted a decent 3.5" drive enclosed unit (rather than the crappy external USB thing I had!).I originally ordered the Akasa AK-ICR-07 Akasa AK-ICR-07 Internal Card Reader which sat at the 'Preparing for Dispatch' stage for over a week, so I bit the bullet and stumped up the extra for this unit!, thinking the USB3.0 would be worth it over the other unit! I wasn't wrong! I have 1 USB3.0 divice (an external Drive Caddy also from IcyBox) and it's blisteringly fast!! the SATA II drive in the caddy has access times comparable to if the drive was on the SATA channels in the PC.Accessing SDHC cards (etc...) is also very fast! Formatting a 16Gb Class 10 card took a fraction of the time it took in my old system! All in All I'm very happy and can't recommend this drive enough to anyone who has an internal USB3.0 connection on their motherboard that they have no idea what to plug in to!!**************EDIT (6th April 2014)*******************As with quite a lot of reviews I'm reading, I'm now getting the same problem!I was in my Device Manager yesterday, checking drivers for my Graphics, when I noticed an Error in the USB Section, tracking it down (by checking all other USB devices) I discovered the Card Reader side of this product was no longer working!, the USB port still works no problems, but there is no LED illumination in either the power or when I insert a card, and when I un-hide the drives in explorer (mapped to W:, X:, Y: and Z:) they are not there!I'm not happy!, yes it's been 2 years, but hardware should last a lot longer than that!! I'm only reducing to 2 stars as the USB3 port still works!!I am now saving for a Front 2x USB3 port bracket and a Lexar USB3 CF/SD card reader to replace this!AVOID THIS PRODUCT!!!

It works very well.
My experience of Icy Box products is that they are well made and serviceable. This card reader works fine. My only complaint is that the top of the Compact Flash pins are only 3mm below the front plate. There is no guide to line up and square up the Compact Flash card up before entering the pins. The pins are extremely vulnerable. There is no need for this stinginess, there is plenty of room on the circuit board for a deeper connector. Unfortunately they all seem to be the same now. My old one had pins set 22mm behind the front plate.

Neat card reader - USB 3.0 lead only to connect
A really fast card reader with all ports being connected through the usb 3.0 lead rather than a separate usb 2.0 for the card readers and usb 3.0 for the extra usb port. I had this as a replacement for one of the previous types of card reader after the other stopped my computer from working. I had already replaced the motherboard though before I found out that it was the card reader that was causing the problem. It was only when I had replaced the motherboard and finally connected the card reader usb 2.0 port that my computer ceased to function again and I finally found the answer to my previous problem. At least with this card reader i hope not to have that problem because as I say there is only the usb 3.0 lead to connect which means I hope that everything is being read at usb 3.0 speeds.
