3/8' CV Boot Clamp Plier Torque Setting Tool Set

This is a very simple tool. There are two jaws which move together as the 3/8 socket head is turned. The tool is used to crimp CV boot clips into place. The average clip has a raised portion which is squeezed by these pliers and deformed until the clip fits tightly around the CV boot. In 50 years of working on cars I have never come across a CV boot clip which requires a torque wrench to set it, particularly as they are usually crimped with a hand tool - but each to their own and I cannot speak for aviation maintenance requirements. The tool is very easy to use and very effective. Some reviewers suggest these tools break - how this can happen in normal use is a complete mystery.

Genuine VW Audi CV Boot clips are extremely tough and these are the only tool man enough to correctly set these type of clips.I bought these having broken a cheap hand tool, described as "Workshop Quality!" These made light work of the job and correctly set the CV Boot clip to the correct tension.I would not look at the cheaper tools when doing this job again in the future.Buy these first and save yourself the hassle of breaking cheaper tools first!

Genuine VAG Group CV joint clamps are very strong and you will struggle to tighten them up with a normal clamp pliers. I found that this clamp did it with ease. A lot cheaper than other ones you see on the market, maybe not suitable for everyday industrial use, but perfect for the DIYer! Would recommend, better than paying someone else to do your work.

Did what I needed to do on my VW. Seems pretty sturdy and well made. Can’t say too much as only used it once. I had seen similar that said the threads can distort after heavy use so I put a bit of copper lube on them to keep things moving with less friction. They are quite large so need to manouver the clip into a suitable position to get at it first.

if you make up your own airlines using two ear clamp rings these are marvellous. Or any other soft (rubber, plastic etc) hose which two ear clamps fit)

Item broke immediately upon use, after replacing an outer CV joint boot I was reassembling and on the very first clamp it snapped the top left side off and the bolt ripped the threads out of the socket. I'm not sure they've used metal for the construction, it feels more like hard play dough. I tried fixing it with a longer bolt afterwards but to no avail. I'm now stuck with no tool and no left driveshaft in my car.

Terrible quality. This is supposed to be a heavy duty cv clamp but after doing up 1 clip it literally fell apart. The bolts holding the jaws on stripped (I suspect it was already mostly stripped during assembly) then the pivot pin fell out and with final use in desperation to get my clips done up, the tightening thread ceized.
