I would recommend this book to anyone interested in teaching cildren about the fashions from this time period! Full of information about the clothing & on the last few pagesTom Tierney has compiled some excellent drawings of headwear (giving one the opportunity to get some practice in coloring faces), footwear, etc. What a great idea, which he has incorporated into a few of his fashions coloring books.I do have a couple of complaints: too much black ink on some pages - pictures are back to back. I would have welcomed more info on color choices that would have been available during that period.For the price, Dover Publications has done a wonderful job putting together Mr. Tierney's work. I do recommend his other collections, but would attempt to copy onto a better grade of paper. I say attempt because the image on the reverse will ghost through.Recommended mediums would be crayon, colored pencils, & chalk pastels. All wet mediums will bleed through the pages.All pages are non-perforated & double sided. The pages can be removed from the book with an utility or exacto knife for ease of placing in a binder.This is a typical Dover Publication coloring book & the drawings deserve much better paper.Recommended for children

We are studying fashion and styles during the Middle Ages through the Elizabethan era concurrently with our standard history curriculum. Seeing what people wore during that time in history helps to bring the people "to life" as we study about them. I have two daughters, age 12 and 10. We ordered three Dover Fashion Coloring Books which overlap the time span we are covering. All of the Dover books are good quality, with just enough info along with the pictures to be insightful but not laboriously boring. Would recommend!

I have a pre-teen granddaughter who loves art, history of fashion, Renaissance Fairs (for which I make her costumes) and this was a great extra Christmas gift for her. I paired it with a box of 152 crayons. Can you imagine how much fun she will have completing these pages. There are so many different fashions for the period, both for men and women. I will use the book for reference and ideas for my costume making.

There are costume reference books for me. I won't be coloring in them. If I do want to play with color, I will make a copy of a page so I don't mess up the original. I find the line drawings very interesting and like that the pictures cover different social classes.

Yes, it's a coloring book, but one that's painstakingly researched and carefully illustrated. You can learn a lot about Renaissance garb before handing it over to your kids to color. For example, this book makes the differences between German and Italian clothing from the same period readily apparent. Not everyone cares about that sort of thing, but if you're a Renaissance nut the way I am, you'll appreciate the attention to detail.

I am an adult who enjoys coloring, both with crayons and colored pencils. This book had beautiful, colorful, costumes which allowed me to use both crayons and/or pencils. The costumes were intricate which called for the use of the pencils. I really liked the fact that in addition to coloring, the history of the Renaissance and the definitions of the different articles of clothing were discussed, so I learned something new! If you like to color, you should enjoy this book.

I enjoy the fashions but I wish the pages were one sided. hen using water colors they go through making it very hard to color the next page

Another excellent Dover Fashions product, beautifully illustrated, making it fun to learn about that period. This one is a particular favourite as the fashions are so lovely.

I've found all tom tierny books well worth buying and colours and picture perfect reccomend all his books won't disappointed
