Can multiple headphones be used with one receiver with this model?

One, two, three, six, 8 or more people can all have their own MDRRF985RK headsets/earphones on, and if each Sony MDRRF985RK headset/earphone is set to the single broadcast channel (channel 1,2 or 3) all persons in the room will receive perfect sound. You can have just one wireless radio signal from one Sony MDRRF985RK base/recharger Unit hooked up to your TV with the supplied red and white wire/plugs sending signal to multiple headsets... Note: as someone mentioned for using multiple headsets in same room: the single Base unit hooked up by wires to the TV must not be charging, or in its charging cradle, or no radio signal will go out.IE: When only one earphone set is used, it must be the one wired into your TV since the recharging cradle being depressed turns off the wireless radio signal broadcast.My wife and I bought 3 complete units. Only one base unit is connected by the Red and White wires into our TV.

I want headphones to watch tv in bed while my husband is snoring loudly next to me. are these what I want?

I have been wearing hours daily for more than 3 years the MDR-RF865R (the same as 985 for France) that I bought in apr 2013. I often wear it in bed to listen (and watch) concerts when falling asleep. How is the battery recharged? Does it have to be removed and put into a charger?

YES...you have to remove the headphones from your head, turn them off and set them carefully on the recharging station which is on the top of the "tower/receiver". A small red light will glow if they are seated correctly and charging.

Do the headphones have to be switched on and off?

We switch them off when we put them on the chargers. Don't know if it is necessary. We also frequently switch them off during commercials.
