I ordered a queen and it came in one very heavy box. My husband and 15 yr old could not carry it upstairs. Luckily it is broken down into smaller boxes inside. Once inside our door, we carried it upstairs by the smaller boxes. Again, this was the queen size.

If you want to use a box spring, that's fine, but we don't recommend it because the mattress will be too high and will block the headboard.
