ARCCI Diamond Knife Sharpener Portable Retractable Sharpening Steel Multifunction Sharpening Rod for Outdoor Activity

A chief at cooking school recommended this to me and then showed me how to sharpen my knife. It works. I must admit it might not have done had the chief not shown me how to use it properly but it was easy to learn with and really makes my knife sharp. If I can use it, then most people would be able to. Just be careful not to drop it. Apparently these steels shatter if dropped.

Good sharpening blade. Build quality not great - had to glue the top ring back on. Also very slippy base, nit to be held on a tea towel or so.ethibg similar, it slips on the kitchen counter or if placed on a chopping board. Easy enough to fix and use appropriately. Good value for money relative to many other buying options.

Seems to work well. You can feel the knife drag over the diamonds and when you wipe the knife there is a lot of steel dust on the cloth. I have a varied collection of mid price knives (kitchen devil, sabatier and Ikea) and they sharpened up quickly (my last steel had gone blunt after 25 years!). I would recommend this as a good solution for both sharpening and maintaining an edge.

Mine is at least 400-grit and you'll need that if not more. Have had mine for ages. I love how t reverses to slot back inside its handle and screw-secure. There's a handy groove for sharpening darts or similar. This is a very good tool, but keep the diamond taper lightly oiled to guard against rust.

I was hoping for a finer grit to this as a diamond sharpener. More suited to bringing a blunt knife to an edge than honing a blade to a real sharpness.

Medium grade diamond surface for realigning cutting edge of knives and tools. I use this before a much finer grit to achieve a razor edge. Gentle pressure required otherwise you'll remove too much metal. Time.will tell how long it stays effective but for the price it seems an excellent tool to have available.

only used for a short while since delivery but pleased with the product so far.

If you don't have time for a whet stone sharpen, this is very good. It is excellent at reaching the grooves in a serrated blade. On a straight blade, you can "feel" the friction, so you know the blade is getting sharpened.

I've owned many budget "diamond" sharpeners. This one seems like it is of the quality you can expect from a budget "diamond" sharpening rod. I purchased this rod to sharpen re-curve blades and should work for a while with occasional use. As other reviewers have stated, if you use a budget rod like this often you will wear it out faster than you might expect. Good value for the money.

Prima di entrare nel merito del prodotto mi pare necessario spendere una parola sulla serietà del venditore che, dopo che gli ho fatto rilevare un difetto nel primo affilatore spedito, ha proceduto immediatamente ad inviarmene un altro, senza alcun problema e neppure richiesta di reso del precedente (la cui confezione avevo rotto per aprirla e che avevo anche utilizzato per provarlo, rendendomi conto del difetto). Ho comprato l'affilatore in questione perché già ne possiedo uno "simile"(vale a dire con abrasivo a base di polvere di diamante). Quello in mio possesso mi è stato regalato tempo addietro da un amico. Soddisfatto del suo funzionamento e sapendo che quello regalato aveva un costo notevole, ho deciso di approfittare del prezzo veramente molto basso di quello ARCCI. Bene, complice anche il difetto del primo esemplare arrivato, ho compreso il motivo del costo abbordabile. Il modello ARCCI non ha l'abrasivo al diamante "integrato" alla barra di metallo ma - più economicamente - si tratta di un film adesivo che copre la barra. Di questo mi sono reso conto in quanto il primo prodotto aveva il film "rotto" da cui si intravvedeva il ferro sottostante. Detto questo, l'affilatore svolge la sua funzione e risulta in grado di ravvivare il filo dei coltelli da cucina ma è chiaro che la sua durata sarà limitata perché, passando e ripassando i coltelli, la pellicola si consumerà ed alla fine si romperà. In definitiva il prezzo pagato è in linea con la qualità ordinaria dell'affilatore.

Bought it to sharpen a knife and keep it sharp during a trip. Though it probably works great can never keep my knife super sharp. Still kept my knife sharper than not using anything or using the v shapped sharpeners so worth it
