Brilliant build
EPIC. My largest build to date. Extremely detailed, easy to follow guides ( 3 in total ) Even unfinished looks awesome. Total of 40 bags ( so set aside a few weekends and evenings )Only a few very small niggles. Angles of the pictures for instruction, can be frustrating.Very, very few pieces missing BUT occasionally can be ones you really need ( BUT if a serious LEGO builder you will probably have spares )TBH _ the amount of time spent building it, VERY good value for money.ROLL on the next one

Lego LOTR excellence!
What can you say about Lego. This is a huge build but incredibly fun and time consuming. The only issue is where do you put it after it's built! Very expensive but it's lego. Quality product and LOTR fans will love it.

What an absolute fun but hard build
Loved every second of this build. After recently finishing Rivendell this one was equally fun!The only thing that I will say to people is to double check the pictures after you are done with each section as there are so many sneaky sneaky rocks.Would not recommend this to the faint of heart.

One of the best LEGO sets ever released
As a huge Lord of the Rings fan, the opportunity to build one of the most iconic structures the books brought to life in imagination and then finally realised with the Peter Jackson Movie Trilogy, this LEGO Barad-Dur set is by far the largest and most challenging sets I have tackled in the four years I have been building and collecting LEGO. It is immense as the high end price tag would suggest and this is definitely one for the more experienced LEGO builder(s).Starting off with the sheer size of it, the box gives you some idea alone but when you open the box itself, it will dawn on you. This set is comprised of 5471 pieces, broken down into 40 bags and has three instructions booklets, each one rather massive but of high quality printing. I personally prefer to download the free to download PDF versions of the instructions from the LEGO official website and use a tablet to follow the excellent pictorial guides. This set when complete is 2ft wide and just shy of 3ft tall...it is a beast of a build but thankfully the genius engineering of LEGO boffins have designs this so it is built in three sections, hence the three instruction books. The Base, the middle and finally the tower. From the front, you have the iconic dark Mordor look of Barad-dur but turn it around and inside you will see a forge setting, a dining hall setting and the tower has the throne room, study and a surprise which I will not reveal hear complete with 12 mini figures and for the very first time, the Mouth of Sauron and Sauron the Dark Lord himself, all can be positioned anywhere you like inside Barad-dur and also has Frodo, Sam and Gollum in a separated rock scene to recreate when the ring is thrown into Mount Doom.As I said, this was a challenging but hugely satisfying build to complete, I recommend pairing the completed set with a 12" Lazy Susan turn table, purchasable from Amazon for around £10, so that when displayed it will be easier to turn it to reveal what is on the inside for the perfect look. One of the largest and most expensive sets for sure, but the high end price will give you a high end collectible which for a Lord of the Ring fan, is well worth the investment.

So Many Bags!
An incredible set to get stuck into with over 5000 pieces, this set ranks in the top 20 of Lego largest sets. Coming in a large box full to the brim with Lego. With 40 bags in this set, all made of paper (nice change) 3 manuals for each section. The instructions are very clear and even better than smaller sets to truly make sure you don't miss anything. So far the model looks great with loads of hidden features. The end result gives a large tower which will not disappoint. In this kit you are getting a lot of Lego for the money and even better if you are a big LOTR fan.Great selection of mini figures, the set starts you off slow on your adventure with hobbits and gollum, making a small land mass to start from.In total took about 15 hours to complete, I would think it would take a few weekends if you stretch it out and with way it's setup really allows for 15 min stints with the bags without missing anything.Overall really nice model to build and good value if you are in the market for a large set.

Long build, but I'm really into it.
Stunning! There's no other word for this majestic model from Lord of the Rings. This is a huge complex build and to be frank we have only really just started at ground level, but it's so fascinating that we want to take our time and get it right.Don't under estimate the amount of work you will put into this and appreciate the amount of work that Antica Brocsnov, Lego senior designer has put into the initial build and I imagine making it work for the rest of us.Some statistics: there's 5471 parts according to the box, I decided not to count them; the instruction book has 1003 steps and a huge amount of pages. We are using the online version for ease of use. When finished this model stands 33" (83cm) tall. As you can imagine it also weighs quite a bit: 7.46 kg.The box and the listing say that it comes with 10 mini figures including Sauron, Mouth of Sauron, Orc, Frodo, Sam and Gollum and Gothmog. But I would suggest there's another, the skeleton figure doesn't seem to be included in either the official photos or on the box line up. But that's a nice surprise, as are other hidden working parts and little hidden away secrets. I'm not going to list them, even if I spent several hours going through the instruction books and bags of parts looking as they would be spoilers! OK, just one, I love the hidden spider in the wall!Despite the price tag this set is value for money. You get a huge amount of Lego, a beautiful design, something you'll want to show people and of course the fantastic experience of building this. I'm taking it slowly, I'll update this when it's done, but don't hold your breath!
