love it
THIS STUFF WORKS! I have two dogs, coming 8 this year a Doberman and a Bull Terrier. I'm not really sure what caused it, if something is going around or what but both girls came up sick, upset stomach, throwing up and loose stools, some even straight liquid. Before I take any of my animals to the vet, I like to follow a few things and see if it's something I can help at home, and if not they go in.Not only did the girls love these and take them like treats, but it has relieved their upset stomachs and has stopped them from having accidents in the house. Quality treat and ingredients has made my girls feel better and retain the nutrients they're suppose to.I will always keep these on hand now just incase.

WORKS !!
My Aussie silky terrier developed problems with age/cardiac meds and began recurrent IBS symptoms after an allergic attack even with high quality food ..... Put him back on rice/kibble/touch of loaf for flavor, and the Vetoquinol paste vet had given me with mixed results -- vet had mentioned to try tablets after initial treatment if he had recurrence, and I took the chance even with expense because of reviews -- it took about a week and I had to adjust the dose just a little, but everything is back to normal, thankfully for him and me (we were having thick soup with bloody tinge at times even with rice and paste and he was clearly having pain spasms) -- I still have him on Gentle Giant kibble which he has always done very well on, and I crush the half-tab I break (scored) with a lightweight smooth meat mallet, just pushing down as tabs are soft and dry (very easy to do), mix it with some beef loaf and tiny bit of H20, then mix into the kibble -- it disappears without a problem once he got used to it.... That is all I do now and he is back to normal and pain-free.... Also, I had to cut out all but tiny salmon training treats VERY occasionally, but this regimen is working so well, worth it.... He is 28 pounds, I am giving half a tab with each of three meals a day, so the container will last me a year -- With tax, that's $6.00 month from Amazon..... WELL worth it for me -- and him..... :) I saw review concerns about size of container -- it is about 15% larger than (and same shape) as a standard hardboard coffee can of ground coffee...... Not that big to me (?)...... Even if I have to gradually increase dose a little as he ages, it works so well I will happily do that.....

Essential
I recommend the article by Brett Harling DVM "Acute canine diarrhea: is it time to rethink our treatment approach?" online at at DVM360. It is written for veterinarians, so is not dumbed down for patients. At the end of the article, he explains the three ways Pro-Pectalin works.Pro-Pectalin works well for my dog and always works. Without it, a soft stool issue gets worse and worse until there is mucus, blood and liquid stool. The stool is not the issue, of course, but the distress to my dog's GI tract. The cause is unknown. When she is on a steady routine, the problem can start up. Reading these reviews has been much more helpful than talking to the vet, because these represent a wide spectrum of issues and advice for a context for me to try to solve the problem and keep my dog healthy. My only concern is that using these constantly could block the metabolism of some nutrients. My vet said that the only concern is masking an underlying issue. If I take my dog off of Pro-Pectalin, does the problem come back? Sometimes. If we didn't have these, she would be in serious trouble with her gut becoming more and more irritated. It helps to quiet everything down. When her stool is normal, I have done a long, long, long tapering off over weeks. She is then normal for a few weeks without them and when the condition returns, I do not hesitate to start again. This brand is the only one I trust because I use another one of their products, Flexadin Advanced, that uses UCII to prevent the immune system from degrading joint tissue. No other product does this. It turn her from a lame dog into an athlete within days and has kept her that way for a year and a half now. When the vet prescribed ProPectalin and dispensed them from the clinic at a ridiculously high price, I researched them and found that they were developed by Vetoquinol, so bought this product. Many products are out there for the convenience of the caretaker so that stool is easy to pick up, which is faulty thinking, especially when food is formulated with that in mind. The issue is the health of the dog, not the convenience for the human. I don't think soft stool is a problem unless it is known to be the start of a course of illness. Liquid stool, rather than soft stool, is always a cause for serious concern.I keep a spreadsheet noting the percentage of full dose she is getting, the hardness of the stool, the presence of blood, of mucus, of strong odor, together with her activity level and stress level plus the blandness of the food. Each is assigned a percentage value. It was easy to set up using the iPhone Numbers spreadsheet and takes a moment to keep up to date. It has a correlation function so that I can see objectively what factors are related. For example, if she is stressed out by another dog when we are out on a walk and has loose stool, likely they are related and it is not part of a health trend.I always want to have this on hand. The product tub is big but the product doesn't expire for over a year. The only down side was that the plastic was cracked by the thoughtless packaging and shipping. I got it within 3 hours of ordering but it was in a paper envelope and crushed. I was prepared for this from other reviews and simply transferred the tabs to an airtight container along with the desiccant pack.As my dog ages, I think it is natural that her tummy becomes more sensitive. I am so glad I have this to support her health. I hope that more research will show the causes of the problem and the way the remedy works.

They work
They work great, firm poop the next day. Dog won't eat them so the flavor isn't super but it's medicine so it's expected. Hard but easy to break in pieces and put in back of throat. I actually used less than recommended, first time one chew, second time two and his dose would be three plus. Good to have on hand for those random, something didn't agree with him diarrhea days.

Worked for my dog!
This worked very well for my dog, a 10 year old terrier mix, with runny stools. Over the years I've had other dogs (rescues) with all kinds of gut issues. Working with our vet, we couldn't determine any good reason for this dog's sensitivities, and tried all kinds of diets. After using these tablets for a few months, there were more issues, and we have stopped needing them. Stools remain well formed, firm but not hard, nor difficult to pass. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the pill size, I had to cut them for the proper dosage. That also means the quantity will be lasting us a really long time.

Great digestive support for dogs
This helps a lot with digestion.I have bought many probiotics in the past, powder and tablets.I was using these for the dogs at the animal shelter I work at.I had to buy my own supply for my dogs. They like them, easy to break into smaller pieces or crush to make a powder. They smell almost like a rice cake.I will definitely buy again. I always purchased pro plan forta flora in the past, this is a better product for the price.
