Amazing Earbuds!
I've had these AZ100's for about 3 weeks now, and they are amazing. The sound quality is exceptional: excellent stage, detail, bass, mids, and highs are all clean. I did have to tweak the EQ a bit for my preferences, but these buds actually respond to the changes. And, it was amazing how many settings I tried that I actually liked, but were still distinct from each other. These are far better than SoundPeats H3 in this regard, although I was able to dial in the eq on those as well. But get them a little off and the H3's could be painful. The AZ100's manage to allow me to hear everything without any of it disappearing, or any of it becoming overwhelming, regardless of the frequency. I also like the size and comfort. These are small but fit very well. They are snug, but still comfortable without causing any "hotspots" that get sensitive after wearing them for a while. I would add that the fit and shape does a good job at passive noice cancelling for me. But the thing that has impressed me the most is the ANC. I have a particular use case. I'm a cyclist. The wind noise of cycling is always particularly challenging for ANC, particularly once you get past about 15 mph. With most other earbuds I just turn the ANC off on the bike, because at around 17-18 mph it tends to make things worse. But with the AZ100's set on automatic, I could actually hear it adjusting to the wind noise. Even at 20-25 mph they were doing reasonable job. Get past 25 mph, and well the wind is loud, but it's loud regardless of earbuds, ANC, or nothing. But, and here's the kicker, somehow, the AZ100's again set to auto, allow me to hear approaching cars, even from behind, while keeping the wind noise down. Either one of the ANC sound engineers was a cyclist, or there's some kind of voodoo in there. The performance of ANC on the AZ100’s set on automatic is as good or better than the “Wind” setting on Earfun Air Pro 4+. (The H3’s were unusable while riding in any setting including turning the ANC off.) One note: when I first started using the AZ100's I used the default medium size tips, and they were working great. But after using the software to select the "ideal" size, it shifted me to the small size. This fit fine and was stable while riding, however the ANC quality in the wind deteriorated significantly, so I went back to the Medium tips, and things are better. I'm not sure why this is. I suspect I'm right on the line between the two sizes, and the combination of heat and sweat from the physical activity loosens the fit up slightly? Regardless, I get a better seal and ANC performance with one size larger than the software recommended. YMMV. The battery life is great. Phone calls (I've only done a few) have been fine. I really couldn't be happier.

A game-changer for me!
Amazing sound! Best I've ever heard from a set of earbuds. I moved up from a cheap pair with no ANC, and the difference in quality is immensely noticeable. I spent WEEKS mulling over which brand and model to buy. I'm a casual audiophile, so I wanted incredible sound while also factoring in comfort, features, battery life, and user reviews. I narrowed down my options to this and the B&W Pi8, which I knew would also be a good choice. The reason I chose this over the Pi8 is use reviews. Nobody complains about the sound quality of the Pi8, but the overall user experience for the AZ100 was higher, so that swayed my decision. Let me tell you, brother, I am more than happy with my choice! Here is what I love about this product: Sound quality: Listening to Ultra HD music with LDAC enabled is a religious experience. I'm listening to some music I've heard a LOT before, but it's an all-new experience for me. It's like falling madly in love with the same person all over again! I prefer stereo mode, but using positional audio with Dolby Atmos and head tracking is a nice option, and I've found it to be really great on certain tracks, especially those specifically designed with 360 audio in mind. Comfort: My old, cheap earbuds were pretty good, for the price, but I had to fiddle with them a lot to get to stay in and feel okay. Once you go through the guide to figure out what size tips to use, these earbuds "lock in" better and feel great. It's like I forget they are even there. The longest I've ever used them so far is two hours straight, and I felt zero discomfort. Noise cancelling: Impressive! I've never experienced ANC before, so I cannot compare it to Sony or other brands, but this is a game-changer for me. I live in a very quiet house in an extremely quiet neighborhood in the middle of nowhere, and I thought ANC would be overkill at home, but I was wrong. It's crazy how much ambient noise there is that you don't even think about. When I turned ANC on at home, I think I audibly gasped! I had never "heard" so much silence before! 😂 When I started listening to music, it was something special, and I knew I had made the right choice to spend good money on a premium product. Customization: The app lets you adjust equalizer settings to your liking, which is a must for me. I know this is standard for premium earbuds, but my last one only had presets, and no matter what I did, the bass was always too much, even with the "Bass reducer" setting. I don't understand the appeal of the power frequencies overpowering everything... but I digress. Beyond the equalizer adjustment, you also have so much control over the noise cancelling settings. When I'm at work, I can not only turn off ANC altogether, but I can adjust how much of the outside world is boosted. I have to be attentive to my coworkers and notifications on my computer, so it's amazing to be able to hear everything so clearly and still be able to hear the music in such amazing detail. I cannot say anything negative about this. $300 is a lot to spend on earbuds, so that may be one aspect of this that some would find as a negative, but this is probably the last set of earbuds I'll buy for a VERY long time, so that's one way I justify the price. The other is that you really get what you pay for here. Multiple professional reviewers list this as the best overall option for 2025, and they have done that with good reason. If you are on the fence like I was, and you can afford the premium price tag, I think you'll be beyond satisfied with your purchase.

PHENOMENAL! Exceptional sound, unbelievable call quality
I bought these for the rave reviews I'd read about the exceptional sound for music playback - which is absolutely incredible - but a surprise feature is the call quality, in terms of what the microphones can pickup: and what these block out. With the "AI" feature turned on, it eliminates background noise on your side. It's so good it's wild. Let's talk about the call quality first. This is a game changer for me, as I'm on MS Teams calls throughout the day - and I have young kids at home as well, plus I will sometimes I have to speak on a call and I'm in the car or not quite in the house and it's windy out. Being on the go is not really something you want to convey in a work call. I picked these up before heading to Disneyland the week of Thanksgiving with the kiddos. While there, my sister called. There were no less than one million people there at that time, many talking near me, music in the background, all this sound. She asked where I was. I said, "Disneyland." She was surprised because she couldn't hear anything in the background. So I looked into it and found out the "AI" voice call setting was flipped on by default. You can actually test this yourself in the accompanying Technics phone app. In the test, it'll continuously record your voice and play it back on a few-second delay. With the AI enhancement OFF, it's great at capturing sound around you like typical earbuds. With it on, it's ultra clear and only your voice. I mean, it's so good I've been telling everyone I know about these. Today I was sitting next to my 3YO, 6" away, who was actively screaming at the 5YO, 3' away. Whoever I'm talking to *cannot hear this*!! I've even been at a DIY car wash with the sprayer in my hand, full blast, on a windy day. While I didn't hear that audio myself, the person I called said they couldn't really hear anything in the background. I seriously cannot believe how good these are. I'm so confident in how well they block out background sound that I will do dishes while I'm unmuted on small group work call. (For much larger group calls, I don't need to experiment: I'll be muted in Teams, turn off my microphone on my phone, and mute these as well.) One feature I haven't tried yet: there's even an AI feature to block background noise on the other end of the call, too. So if your friend is in a noise place, it can block *their* background noise for you. I haven't encountered this scenario yet but I bet it works great. Audio quality is outstanding. There's a built-in EQ, plus your phone's as well, of course. Between the two - and the Dolby Atmos on my Samsung - the bass is surprisingly deep, mid and highs clear, and they have a great sound stage. I listed to music from Qobuz (CD quality at minimum) and very much appreciate HiFi audio. It's fun to listen to music all over again on these earbuds. There's some kind of Dolby Atmos feature built into these where the sound changes if you move your head around. I haven't played with that yet. You also have options to block out background noise when listening to audio (a few ANC settings) and the pass-through feature, too, which lets in background sound and has a voice focus setting that works great. What else: they connect to multiple sources, are comfortable to wear (I can have them in for a few hours straight), and I haven't had issues with battery life despite wearing them for calls much of the day. I'm still getting used to the button taps on the right and left earbuds (one tap for this, long tap for another feature) but these are customizable, too. I would say the one part I'm getting used to is the size. Maybe it's the drivers that make them a little bit bigger. I'm coming from the Jabra Elite 7 Pro's and also the Anker Soundcore sleep buds (which are much smaller and flush with your ear, of course) - so these feel a touch larger. But for the top-notch audio quality and amazing ability to block my background noise for call recipients, it's not an issue. These were on sale before Thanksgiving - maybe check the price history - but for the features here and my new ability to actively move around without concern on work or personal calls, the value is unsurpassed. I absolutely love these and would encourage you to buy them if you want amazing earbuds for music and voice calls.

So Close to Perfect - Ambient Mode is AWESOME
These earbuds are SOOO close to being perfect it drives me crazy. I'm coming from the AZ-80s and most of the features are improved (but not all). Depending on your needs, my issues may or may not be relevant to you so let me break it down for you: Things I Love 1) Transparent Mode & External Mics - these things are AMAZING! They work so good! I was especially impressed when I used them at a concert recently. The measure sound volume at the concert was 100-106db. I poped in the earbuds and set the mode to 14% transparent. The sound was GREAT and the volume level perfect. I tried the same with the AZ-80 but loud environments would override those mics. Not with these. The only time I've had a the external mic flake out is when I was weed-whacking and the string hit some metal siding. Honestly - super impressive! 2) Sound Quality - I have very high standards when it comes to quality SQL. I've used these with many devices including an iBasso DX170 in LDAC mode and my phone. The sound detail is amazing. Hearing things in the music I dont typically hear with a pair of earbuds. Yes, the SQ is really that much better than the AZ-80. 3) Phone Call Quality - Again, compared with the AZ-80, these are WAY better. I regularly take calls in my car and half of the year my convertible top is down. I've been able to have 20min plus conversations at highway speeds with the top down with the other party saying they could barely hear the road noise at all. Well done! Mixed Feelings 1) Size and Shape - while I appreciate the smaller size of the AZ100 earbuds compared to the AZ80, they are a little more difficult to grab. They are more rounded and you have to be a little more intentional about getting a firm grip on them. Once they're in your ears, its a better more streamlined fit but you need to be a little slower and more careful moving them around. 2) Noise Cancellation - when wearing them around home or out on a walk, noise cancellation works great. They seems to have some issues though maintaining the noise cancellation mode on airplanes. I've had the pleasure of testing them on a number of different flights recently and while everything starts off well, after 20-40 mins or so the noise cancelling will start to whoosh out and then back in. It might be something about the white noise of the airplane engines. To fix it, you have to open the app, turn noise cancelling off then back on. I've had this happen more than 25 times on a one hour flight. 2) Battery Life - my fist set of earbuds had a battery drain issue. The left earbud would drain the entire pack just when sitting in the case not being used. Left me with a dead set within less than 24 hours of storage. The set was replaced under warranty and the 2nd set is working as advertised. The warranty process was a little bumpy - more on that below. 3) Warranty - unfortunately I had the opportunity to try out the manufacturer warranty process due to a batter drain issue. Contacting and communicating with support was pretty good - they were responsive and helpful. The only challenge was that the replacement set came back to me in Silver when I returned a set of Black earbuds. When I inquired as to the incorrect color and how I could be sent the same color that had failed, I was pretty much told - too bad. You get what you get. Kind of sucks considering I ordered the color I wanted, they failed in less than 2 months and how I have a functional set ... except for the weird color. A small detail I know but it would have been better if support had notified my first rather than surprising me and then denying my request for the right color. I hope you mileage will vary. Things I Don't Love 1) App Responsiveness & Reliability - in general the App works well once its open and successfully connected. Unfortunately I've had way too many times where the app cannot find the earbuds even when I'm playing music through them and Bluetooth shows connected. I just kill the App and restart but its really flaky. Even the initial load and connection of the app takes annoying longer than I'd like - especially when I'm only trying to change the transparency level or some other basic setting. 2) Touch Responsiveness - switching the earbuds on/off when I'm at home or in a setting where I need to hear a PA announcement (ie. airport) seems to take a little while to register. I know I'm being a little picky but earbuds block you out of the world around you. It should be quick and easy to return your focus to the world around you as needed. Just takes a but longer to register the press and mute the earbuds than is helpful. Many times the announcement was over or I would have missed most of the question by the time I got the earbuds muted. Could be quicker/easier.

Surprise!
I bought this because my over-the-ear cans were too bulky when I was out and about town, and my other set of earbuds did not cancel ambient noise on my side when I was on calls. The over-the-ears I will be comparing them to are my Sennheiser BT450s, and my Bose NC700, and the TWS in my comparison are my B&W Pi8's, though I will mention my experience with Sony WF1000M3 that I used to own and a recent LG TWS. What I discovered in half a week of using my Technics AZ100's is that they are surprisingly good earbuds for a reason I didn't consider previously. Drivers and EQ I have experienced with a few headphones, TWS or otherwise, a hiss. The headphones would cancel noise well enough when there is noise, but when there isn't or during quiet moments in a video, there would be a hiss. The AZ100 doesn't have a hiss that I have been able to detect. Above that, the app offers the most precise EQ of all of my devices. Most just offer three frequency ranges, Bass, Mid, and Highs. This app offers seven, eight? The SoundGuys website commented the factory tuning is clumsy and bass heavy. If you take the time with these equalizers, you can get closer to the ideal EQ settings than if you only had three bars to adjust. I would say these drivers produce sound that is equal to any Sennheiser I have used. Out of the box, they sound like my Bose NC700 with punchier percussions -- which is really nice. These are more capable drivers than Sony's and LG's in-ears. I haven't gotten them to sound as good as my BW Pi8, but I'm being picky and the Pi8 are 33% more expensive. Call Quality The only weakness of my Pi8 is that it lets in too much ambient noise when I'm on a call. One time, I was doing the dishes and the AC was blowing, and my mother, who is hard of hearing, was able to call out every one of my activities. I guess it is a way to make the other party feel like they're right there with you, but I don't think that's what most people mean when they say that. I repeated the same test with the AZ100 and my mother could not tell when I turned on the tap or stopped it, when the AC kicked in or stopped, or when I was next to my audible dishwasher. The complaint from mom was that my voice sounded robotic and occasionally I'd sound farther away. The other party on the other end was easy to hear for me. This was not anything that was a weakness of any of my earphones, but I believe with the AZ100, their voice is processed via the EQ. ANC. The Pi8's ANC design is quite nice in that, around the office or at a restaurant, it lets in some of the ambient sound but doesn't let it interfere with what I'm listening to. I hear my environment, so I don't miss my colleague asking for my attention or my server approaching. I hear things but I don't, if that makes sense. The reason I mention that is that the AZ100 doesn't seem to be so well tuned in that regard. At a restaurant playing loud music, it is fainter, but my podcast is still competing against it. At the same time, in the office, faint sounds drop off into near silence but louder sounds don't seem to be affected. At its best, the AZ100 perform as well as my Bose NC700 or the Sony WF1000M3, but I feel this isn't going to be one of its best traits. It's still very good, mind you -- I'm pitting it against class leading cans of the last few years after all -- but if this is something that is very important to you above all else, then it's probably not the best TWS for you. Portability and Touch Controls The case is tiny. I alternate between these and my Pi8 on the weekdays. I carry both in my pocket. This case is smaller, lighter. I did not perform a drop test, because they're new and they're expensive. I did perform drop tests by accident on my Pi8's. Both the case and buds were dropped from hip height and ear height onto tile with no apparent scuffs to the plastic shell or the internal electronics. The touch controls of the AZ100 are more responsive, it felt. The Surprise The AZ100 went in a different direction than the other buds in one major way. They are extremely light. They are lighter than any of the buds I have ever worn. This has a surprising effect. The buds stay very stable in the ear. I can turn my head quickly, and they won't go flying out. I can walk around, and there isn't even the slightest bit of movement. (In my review of the Sony WF1000M3, I commented that they were so heavy and jutted out so much that once, when I was crossing a street and hurried just a little at the end, the buds fell and I was lucky enough to catch them.) Something like that probably won't happen with these, though, once again, I won't be repeating that experiment. These are a compelling entry into the TWS field. If these were released the same time as the WF1000M3, these are probably better in every category except for the ANC tunings. These are better than the LGs, but the LG's offer a UV self-cleaning feature. And the AZ100 can compete directly against many of the higher-end over-the-ear headphones.

Great headphones with good sound quality
These are some of the best headphones on the market. They sound way different, but once you get used to it you realize it's in a good way. Many headphones have static, or just extra noise that isn't the actual audio itself. I even experienced this with airpods. Airpods are a scam! Apple does their classic tactic of selling you the idea of a premium product, and delivering a $50 pair of headphones made in a sweatshop. These headphones are way more durable than my old airpods, and deliver immaculate sound quality due to the magnetic fluid driver technology which is so revolutionary I am suprised these are so unpopular. The battery life is great, they feel good in your ears (after you get adapted from airpods to these), and they are just quality. They perform exceptionally for an in-ear wireless headphone. No notes 10/10

Early Impressions Unboxing, Quality, Setup, Sound
Update: I decided to return these headphones and lower the rating for two reason: 1. Comfort: Anything longer than 30 minutes hurts my ears, regardless of the tip size I use. This was the deal breaker for me and the star deduction. 2. I had challenges connecting multiple devices. Eg, it would connect with my iPhone but not Mac. Multipoint would not work for me, and yes, I followed the directions. Still better sounding than my APP2, but if I can’t tolerate wearing them, and they don’t seamlessly work, then I can’t justify the expense. I'm coming from Airpods Pro Gen 2 as a point of reference. These are my second pair of airpods, but with no significant update in a few years, I wanted to try something new. These AZ100 arrived today and I excitedly got to checking them out with a comparison to APP2 in my mind. Packaging: I'll say Technics went eco friendly in this packaging. A thin card stock wrapper, black cardstock box, and a THICK manual the size of a matchbox inside. Contents: Ear tips of four sizes from XS to L; The THICK manual, some other misc paperwork, the headphones case wrapped in paper Physical Quality: To be honest, the case feels cheap. The whole case is a lightweight plastic. It doesn't have the solid feel of the APP2 case, and the hinge is plastic with maybe a metal pin, unlike the metal Apple hinge. The AZ100 buds feel nice, and well made. Not heavy, and feels like better quality than the case for sure. Case Size/Weight: Being able to hold these side by side, the APP2 are taller and narrower, but less wide than the AZ100. Both are fairly svelte compared to other chonky cases (looking at you Beats) out there. Still very pocketable. I haven't weighed them, but my hand scales say they are close in perceived weight to be the same in my hand or pocket. Sound: Subjectively, I think these sound better for music specifically compared to the APP2. Granted, I'm no earbud audiophile, but the APP2 are some of the best sounding buds I've ever used; so frame your assumptions based on that. How much better? Well, in my guesstimate: 15-20% better. I really like the sound of these for music. I will say that noise cancellation and "Ambient" mode (their Transparency equivalent) are not as good as Apple's. And this is by a decent margin. Apple's transparency and noise cancellation are kind of magical. The AZ100's have a pretty good noise cancellation capability that is tunable in the app, which is cool; however the transparency (also tunable) isn't as...slick. It's hard to describe. Fit: I use the Medium tips for APP2, and have the Medium in these AZ100's. And...they're not as comfortable. I'm about to go on a flight across the world and will bring both. I can wear APP2's until they die without pain or fatigue. These AZ100 get a bit uncomfortable after a short time, but perhaps they need a break in. Call quality: TBD. Not gonna bug my wife to test call quality and have to explain why I needed another pair of earbuds. I'm not quite sure these are worth the premium right now compared to APP2, and especially considering the price difference. I plan to put them through the paces on this trip for a week and see if they are keepers.

Overpriced for A Step Above Mediocrity
There's a time and there's a place for everything. That applies to many things, including when and where to wear the EAH-100 earbuds. Lounging or going about your business at home is fine. The fit is great, the sound is superb, and the features offer excellent everyday ease-of-use. However, for the price that I paid for it ($250), it's lacking in other areas. The IPX4 rating it has is technically true; it works after heavy sweating or the accidental splash of water (in my case, toddler drool), but you'll hear a pulsing sound from there on out even after leaving it out to dry. The pulsing sound disappears if ANC/Ambient Sound is off, but those features are one of the few things that could justify the $250 price tag. Despite the IP rating being a bit misleading, it did deliver on sound quality and ANC/Ambient Sound performance. If I could say one thing to my past self before purchasing these, I'd say that it was not meant for your peace of mind, to keep them under constant surveillance, and pray you never get caught in the rain with these in your pocket. There are three things I always keep in mind when buying something as expensive as these: sound quality, feature (ANC, Ambiet Sound, microphone, etc.) performance, and build integrity. Despite my obsessive research on these earbuds, I encountered it's Achilles Heel - liquid. If sound quality and feature performance is what you're looking for, then I would recommend these. However, if build integrity (durability, water/drop resistance, everyday wear-and-tear, etc.) is one of your major considerations, I'd advise to look elsewhere.

Smaller, sound slightly improve, still weak on ANC.
Nice sound! I own the AZ80 and am still purchasing this upgraded version. The earpiece is now smaller and more comfortable than the AZ80.
