Great Functional or display sword.
As an avid sword collector and practitioner of muso jikiden eishin ryu iaijutsu I understand that buying a sword online, or an sword for that matter takes allot of research and diligence. Here is the reason I bought this katana,1. First off the reviews for this sword were good on Amazon so I knew that the product must be worth looking at.2. and for the price of 145 with shipping I really could not beat it.Once I got the sword I was wicked impressed. The sword came in a "musashi" card board box and wrapped in a black sword bag. Once taken out of the box and bag the blade in the saya looks great! The saya is a beautiful shinny black and the tsuba is a beautiful gold and black. The wrapping on the handle is tight the pegs are sturdy. When you draw the blade out of the saya for the first time the blade is wrapped in plastic with oil to protect the blade from corrosion. once you remove the plastic you can see how beautiful the blade is. It is sharp but not razor sharp. The hamon is faint but it is there and you know that it is real and not just painted on. The blood grove is perfect. If you shake the katana there is no movement, everything is solid. its great. My only concern is the katana is a little heavy. I myself like the heavier blades because it requires you to go slow and stay in control. But if you are a person that has a light iaido sword then moving to this one will be a bit of a shock. All in all the sword looks great, it is well balanced and works well in kata/form/practice use.I would recommend this to anyone.

I like it.
Please contact me...the sword came with oil on it..no big deal....I just put it on the wall and there is a long mark across the whole sword...i thought it was the oil..But it will not come off....it takes the shine from it..because it runs across the bottom of the sword..I like it...is there something you can send me to take this defect of the sword.......thanks

Rust too quick
Second blade I purchased but my older one was a different mfgr and has never rusted. This one rusted fairly quickly and had to be buffed out. Gave away, cause I'm not into high maintenance. Sharpens nicely though, being carbon steel.

Great value for the money.
This is a very good sword. I wanted something more than a wall-hanger, something that is actually functional, but I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars. It doesn't bother me that this Japanese Katana style sword is made in China, but I was expecting to see "MUSASHI" stamped on the brass (as advertised), not "CHINA". It is for that reason it gets 4 stars as opposed to 5. But I plan to buff that off anyway. Otherwise, it is well-made, the blade is razor-sharp and easily passed the "paper" test. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and I'd recommend this product.

Good sword: DO NOT BUY HERE
This is an excellent sword. I have several Musashi blades and they are all well built and functional for light cutting.Trueswords carries the EXACT same sword for $89.99. Buy from them.

I was more than pleased when I took it out of the box
I was worried about the authenticity of the product as it is far cheaper than on the official musashi website and that in the pictures there is no "musashi" inscription on the gold colored metal piece above the guard. I got the free two day shipping and it promptly arrived. I was more than pleased when I took it out of the box. It was far more sturdy than i had expected and looked far better than in any picture. It did in fact come with a certificate of authenticity. I am very very satisfied with the purchase. criticisms - the piece that is supposed to have the musashi stamp does in fact have the stamp but doesn't fit, it wobbles around all the time. I'm unsure about the small oil colored lines that run throughout the blade, can't seem to wash them off but polishing may take care of that, however it may be just what the steel is supposed to look like (never owned this type of steel blade). It wasn't really that sharp at all, couldn't even cut into paper. Had to sharpen it myself and since i'm inexperienced I left some pretty gnarly scratches. It scratches extremely easily but i guess thats inevitable with something that is being used to cut things. If you want it for a display piece don't use it

Amazing sword for the price
When the sword came in, I was very surprised on the quality of the sword. The sword seems to be very sturdy, and heavier than expected. The blade appears to have a faint, but real hamon. The blade came with a sharp edge not razor sharp, but sharp enough to cause bleeding (from experience) and cut through cardboard with ease. When first received the blade was covered in plastic, and oil (probably for not rusting during delivery) in the saya. Overall a very good sword, and if wondering yes it is functional, and I recommend it

Excellent buy for the money
This is my perspective: I have just started sword training and needed an edged weapon for training purposes. Funds being limited, I chose this sword for its price and the manufacturer's reputation for quality.I was not disappointed. For the price, I do not believe I could get a better sword. Can this compare to the best of Dragon's Breath Forge? Absolutely not. However, can one do better for under $100? I think not.The fit and finish of this sword is surprisingly good for the price. The black paint on the scabbard is flawless. The brass is a bit rough in places, but I can fix that myself. The balance is just about right for me, perhaps a little forward. The blade is amazing. It arrived coated with heavy oil so there was no rust or discoloration. Additionally, it was sharp as a razor right out of the box. It is also quite stiff, which some may not like.I hesitate to give this five stars, given that I know that there are better swords available. However, those swords are far more expensive, so I give it five stars on the basis of value for the money.
