ACCEL 140024ACC Supercoil Ignition Coil

I didn't want to go overboard with this part renewal. I felt: just renewing the old stock coil in my high milage truck (130k) would be an improvement. The spec on this coil's maxium voltage capability shows an increase of 8k over stock; and, peak energy was increased by 11%. I felt: in a higher milage truck with no extra goodies to increase cylinder pressures, this coil would be more appropriate lighting a basically stock motor ......and do it safely, without too much additional stress on things.I did compliment the new coil by getting rid of the aluminum\monkey metal distributor cap .....went with a totally brass rotor and cap; along with, high performance spark plug wires (custom fabricated Split Fire twin cores). Replaced spark plugs as well with Denso dual iridium tipped plugs. I felt: a more comprehensive change out of several things in the ignition system would prove more fruitful, eliminating bottle necks, than strapping a 80k volt ignition coil on alone. Those things did cause the engine to smooth out more quickly at start up, and throttle response was crisp and aggressive with the plugs gapped at 45 thousandth.Trying the coil by itself did not produce any strong difference in performane from the stock coil, just to be clear, and helpful to prospective buyers.

This fit in the stock location and works perfectly for my 99 GMC Sonoma.

So far i like the performance of the Accel Coil. Great products! Fast installation..

In other reviews it’s stated that it doesn’t fit well in the cast iron bracket of most 1990’s Chevy trucks and Tahoe’s, but if you removed the old coil completely it does actually fit perfect and it’s an easier repair if you remove it. I have to give it 5 stars where others have it 4, took 30 mins and that’s including the time it took to drill out the rivets. My 1999 Tahoe starts quicker and idles smoother, just like they claim it would

Replaced some no-brand junk coil on my truck that previous owner had installed. Truck instantly ran better. I checked the primary and secondary resistance of both coils, the old one had a low secondary resistance so coil must have partially shorted around some of the windings, which was preventing full output voltage to the plugs. This coil seems well built and should last a long time.

Grinding off the factory rivets is a breeze, also inhalation hardware is included and works flawlessly

1998 Chev Silverado 5.0 is a perfect fit.Pro tip: you do not have to remove the ignition module/heat syncLeave it in place, and just grind off the factory rivets from the bracket. It will bolt right up..

Was tough to change as the original is hard to get at and is riveted solid to bracket . Had to go get heat sink grease as the module is also on the same bracket and had to be removed . I noticed now I have smoother acceleration and running . I like this product so far .

a little more spark . others say they noticed difference , but I did mine along with full tune up so difference on start up could be from anything. says to drill out old rivets to mount but I think no way so I ground them off . easy install /seems to help
