very fast, silent, light snd thin
popped this drive into a Asus quasi ultrabook (has an AMD processor and was half the price). My machine is very thin so it would only support a 7MM height drive. This HDD fit like a glove. My notebook only supports SATA I but had no problem with this SATA III. The only downside is that SATA I will not allow transfer rates a high as this drive is capable of. Still, this drive is much faster than the HDD it replaced. The drive is also much more efficient with no moving parts so my notebook gets about 12% more battery life. Boot times are about 17 seconds on battery and roughly 12 seconds on AC. Applications all boot more quickly as you'd suspect. The only real downside for this device is the price. As SSDs go this one's price is quite reasonable but it is much smaller that the HDD it replaces (320GB). For a work notebook, the size disparity is worth it as 120GB is still plenty of space for work. I also run Xubuntu 12.10 on this notebook so that also is much, much smaller than Windows XP, 7 or 8

Generally Fast but Underperforms with Compressed Data
Amazon specs are for optimal conditions. Actual benchmarks, such as Crystal Disk Marks, show the drive is 60% slower. That's because Crystal measures compressed data performance which this drive underperforms at. Per G.Skill website, the 120GB drive for compressed data, "Read: Up to 200MB/s, Write: Up to 140MB/s". Regardless, in actual use, the drive is really fast and compares well to the competition. I'm keeping mine but I would have bought another drive if I had known. Other drives perform much better with compressed data. TomsHardware breaks down SSDs into 10 levels of performance. This drive is in the 7th level of 10 where 1st level is highest performing. Thanks to reviewer White for making us aware of the major discrepancy in specs. I did two minute's research and discovered the source of the issue. The drive has been highly regarded by 12 other reviews (so far) and not one noticed the mediocre benchmark performance. Reader beware.Update 28-Feb-2013: I have amended the review to focus on the issue of mediocre compressed performance. The specs weren't wrong as I had presumed, they're just optimistic to the point of being misleading. See comments below.

Not going back to HDD!
Put this SSD into a PC I recently built and installed Win 7 SP1. This is the first time I use SSD as the primary storage device in a PC. The installation went without any issue. The process is no difference than installing on a HDD, only faster. It has enough room for Win 7, all its update, MS Office, even COD MW3, and still has 50GB left. The system starts to Windows almost instantaneously. The shutdown time is also equally speedy if no less. The system response time is so fast that it totally changes my user experience on PC.Even though SSD is still more expensive than HDD with equivalent capacity for now, it still is an excellent investment because it saves lots of time.

Good Drive
I got this drive for $80 on a Cyber Monday deal. This is my first SSD, so I don't have any comparison to other SSDs. It actually replaced a WD HDD I've had for almost 5 years that crashed. I have to say I was pretty impressed. I do still have Windows Vista, but everything is noticeably faster, from boot up to starting programs to playing games like StarCraft, and even shut down is faster. Once prices start to come down on these, I plan on getting another one.

Good deal from GSkill
I bought this during a holiday sale and installed it in my company issued laptop. It has been a terrific upgrade and solved a lot of performance problems I had been struggling with. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time and the price was finally right. I previously purchased a Samsung 830 drive for a HTPC and this one seems every bit as fast. Very happy.

Works very well in a laptop.
Bought this at a great price and had no problems with it. Used to bring life back to a 2006 Intel Centrino laptop and it's amazing the difference in speed now with just a faster hard drive. Mostly because the page file is being accessed much more smoothly. Running Windows 7 Pro off the system too. Would have never done this with a standard PATA IDE drive in there.

Fast and solid
I've used several of these.and they are great drives. I love GSkill RAM which is why I gave these a try in the first place, and I've not been disappointed.I've used other brands and these stack up very well with the more well known ones.I have no hesitation in recommending this drive. I also have the 240GB drive (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0092I7C52/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=comsolaz-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B0092I7C52&adid=1H64B69FQPMS4YJZG545&) in my personal system, and it's great!

No Problems with this drive.
The drive works fine. No problems installing it or installing windows. I haven't ran any benchmarks so don't know if it is doing what the manufacture claims. So far so good. Nice drive for the money.
