Beautiful Book came Perfectly Packaged
This is a beautiful book, and though it was sold as Used-Very Good, it's in such perfect condition that it is the same as Brand New. It came perfectly packaged in bubble wrap inside a padded envelope. And what a gorgeous publication -- full of color photos and articles to introduce each section. Not just a cookbook. It's such a nice book that I'll want to be careful in the kitchen to not get it spotted up while making the recipes.

Bought two of these books as gifts and my friends raved about it!
Even though I returned this book, I am giving a good rating because I have previously bought two of these books as gifts and the recipients raved at how great it is. My copy had folded pages and smeared ink, so I returned it. I’m sure I will order it again in the near future because of the positive feedback from my friends about the tasty recipes and the interesting History of the people of Ikaria.

Recipes and cultural experience
Wonderful recipes, beautiful pictures and great recipes. One of the best cookbooks I've purchased.

beautiful and interesting but not always practical
This is a beautifully produced book, with rich essays and gorgeous photos, but as a cookbook, it would not be my first choice. I plan to keep it, but some of the recipes are not realistic, either because it would require great expense or effort to get the ingredients or because my family would not eat the food (like hyacinth bulbs or a whole goat).

Bought this as a gift
I bought this for my sister, who is battling cancer, after seeing an interview with the author and reading about how healthy the population is in Blue Zones like Ikaria.

Delicious healthy food!
I have a lot of cookbooks, many sit on the shelf, but this one I am using every week. I am a home gardener and thought I knew how to take advantage of my homegrown vegetables. I am so excited to find many new, healthier, way to cook the summer's bounty. Every recipe I have used has been delicious. I am making some substitutions, yellow squash for zucchini, garden greens for foraged ones, mushrooms I can get at my farmers market that aren't exactly the same as they have on the island, but that's to be expected with this kind of cookbook. I am especially pleased that the food tastes so good without the cheeses that I have used so much in casseroles, and great for my vegan daughter and my own commitment to eating less dairy. I highly recommend it to cooks who are willing to do the prep for scratch cooking. Oh, and the bean recipes are really excellent!

Beautifully laid-out book with gorgeous photos, but...
I love Greek food and was so looking forward to using this classic cookbook. However, when I thumbed through the gorgeous book, I found that far too many recipes called for ingredients that are not readily available.I live in a city of 250,000+ foodies and there are several "international" groceries, but I suspect one would need to have easy access to fresh seafood, particularly squid/octopus for this book to be useful.
