DON’T BUY! NOTHING GREW BUT CILANTRO! NO HELP FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE EITHER!
Product seemed cheap and comes with barely any seeds. Nothing grew for me but cilantro and I’ve been landscaping since I was a kid and have grown several herbs and plants. I also have a plant light and misted them properly every other day with light mist. When contacting Amazon about this simply to get new seeds sent to me or a refund/replacement, Amazon could not return or help and when I asked to be directed to the seller they simply said “it is us”, “we are the seller” but then told me to contact the seller for Assitance once I demanded a phone call for assistance. Cause that makes sense. Maybe if they got people that spoke English and understood English and problems, they could’ve helped me but instead they were absolutely the opposite of helpful. Long story short, save your time and money and just go to Wal-Mart and get seeds and soil for $10 and have the ability to grow 50 times what this kit provides for less money. You’re welcome. By the way, this is in the description so I’m fitting to sue:MADE IN THE USA & 100% TO GROW: All Back to the Roots Indoor Gardening Kits are backed by our 100% to Grow promise – if your kit doesn't grow as described, we'll replace it or provide a refund. We’re a small team based in Oakland, CA that’s committed to helping you grow. I was provided with no refund nor replacement.

Still in box
I received the item in a timely matter but after opening the package and reading the directions, I'm thinking of just mailing it to one of my friends who are more into planting. I was thinking that it was the type of plants that didn't need sun and I didn't know that I would have to trim some of the leaves after a few weeks. Although most wouldn't find those things difficult, I prefer a plant that just would need to be watered only because I have kids that keeps me busy.

Perfect for gifting
I like this product, but I don't know if I like getting it through Amazon vs local pickup. The garden kit was shipped via Amazon hand-off to USPS and in a bubble wrap envelope. It arrived with the packaging torn and crunched up, and loose dirt in the envelope. The contents inside were fine, but if I had ordered this as a gift, this would have been no good. If it had been boxed and 1-carrier delivery, it would have arrived in better condition. The kit itself is pretty cool, simple design. Three sealed and labeled cans of dirt, three seed packets, a full-color instruction card, and a little printout of the company's origin/mission statement/charity efforts. So, my opinions: I'm not a big fan of the can planters aesthetic-wise, but my 15 year old tells me this is in style right now, and you could always decorate the cans or line them up in a long decorative basket. The herbs included are mint, basil, and cilantro. I would like to see other options. These 3 herbs don't go together, and I rarely use basil. I would have liked to see a set like "Italian," with the basil and other like-herbs, like oregano. The mint would make more sense with other "dessert" herbs, like lavender and lemon balm. Maybe parsley, chive...I hope they expand this line. The shipping issues aside, this is a good beginner's kit (I know mint and cilantro are prolific, easy growers,) and would make a nice classroom, hostess, or new gardener gift.

Barely germinated plus kept dying
Mine didn’t really grow, I did everything right but they just kept dying. I know I didn’t water too much or not enough. Variety was good I just wish that they would have stayed growing!

DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!
Ok, so I love to garden and I also know how to germinate seeds. In the old days I would use a paper towel and wet it heavily. Put the seeds between the sheets and put it in an air tight container. The seeds, as long as the paper towel is kept very moist, will germinate and begin to grow. Eventually I could plant them. So, keeping this is mind, it takes water and moisture to germinate a seed, you don't need soil as much as you need moisture! The instructions do not provide for enough water. The soil must be very moist but not puddling. It will take a few days, in sunlight, while ensuring that the soil remains moist, the seeds will begin to germinate and you'll see the plants popping up from the soil. The instructions keep the soil too dry. They do not call for enough water to keep the soil moist, which is why so many people couldn't grow their seeds. All three of mine are growing perfectly, but again, I did NOT follow the instructions in terms of the amount of water. Just make it good and moist and keep it that way, and make sure to put them in the sun. Good Luck!
