Need power from solar or batteries, you NEED this Color Control GX!
If you rely on either solar or battery to power your home (or in my case a boat), you are going to love this control display. I connected it to Victron MPPT solar, a MultiPlus Inverter and a BMV battery monitor and it works like a dream. I can keep track of everything online using my phone and am very confident in the power I have to use. I can even track the position of my boat using a cheap USB GPS module and it uploads that and all the extra data online every minute.

This came fast. It’s a very heavy little unit. Haven’t hooked it up yet but plan on using it with 2 solar panels. Will update once in use. Peace

Nice Product, just make sure you actually need it.
Ordered and verified that it works well. Just didn't end up needing it long-term as I went with a RPi4 and Venus OS to monitor. You can't run both at the same time. Also, most of the newer solar controllers can just connect using the "telephone cable" style wire, you don't need the separate power wire to use this.

Solution for flush mount when using the USB to VE.Direct cable
The VE.Direct connector (of the USB to VE.Direct cable) when connected will not allow the BMV-712 to mount flush, it’ll stick out about 1/4”.Victron does make a 90 degree angle VE.Direct but it’s only available as 90 degree VE.Direct to VE.Direct, it’s not available with the USB cable. The solution is to use a JST PH 2.0 4-pin male to female extension cable, which is near impossible to find, but I finally found one as part of this package.https://a.co/d/dgzMh3t20pcs PH2.0mm 2PIN 3PIN 4PIN 5PIN Double End Female and Male Connector Extension Cord Terminal Connector Electronic Wire Cable 200mm Compatible with JST XHNow my BMV-712 is mounted all the way in and is flush.

It's the engineering, stupid - 4.9 stars for getting it right
How refreshing. A budget priced, well engineered product. Well engineered, because all the details are well thought out. From the design of the circuit board, to the user interface, to the array of remote options, to the well organized plain English printed documentation. I also have a $700 MidNite Classic controller for another system. Very reliable and versatile charge controller. But this much lower priced unit does most of what the Classic can do, including custom settings for LFP batteries and remote monitoring.I almost went with one of the popular Chinese made EPEVER controllers, and in fact ordered one, but the product as a whole is just a mess. Confusing, uncommonly labeled settings, programming limitations, funky and confusing remote monitoring options, etc. I finally came across a guy on utube that had posted a video describing how the addition of a Victron charge controller solved the problems he had been having with his two EPEVER controllers. That cinched it. I returned the EPEVER unit, ordered the Victron unit, banked the $100 difference in price and never looked back.NigglesOk. No product is perfect. Victron markets a version of this controller with built in Bluetooth for remote monitoring. But they also sell a version where the Bluetooth can be a plug in add-on, which is great if you need to place the Bluetooth dongle in a better location for reception. My solar equipment is housed in a large, thick metal housing, so being able to place the dongle externally and pass the cable through the box and plug it into the controller was a great option. However, Victron designed the plug with a rectangular connector instead of a round one. Small design choice, but it kept me from being able to use one of those neat waterproof pass-through glands to seal the hole. You have to use a gland large enough to pass the plug through, but then the gland is too large to close down completely on the cable. Thus, not a waterproof connection.Very happy with my Victron controller!

Nice cover for Victron BMV Shunt
Not sure if I'm going to use this yet, but purchased this as a nice flush mount for my Victron BMV 700. Seems very well made.
