Garmin HRM Pro Plus

This is the first hrm I have had that picks up your heart instantly with have to wet the contacts or build up a sweat. The strap can get smelly if used in conditions where you sweat a lot but I put through the wash at 30c with my cycling kit and it is fine not issues. Just don’t put it in a tumble drier - this is a replacement for the one that accidentally got thrown in there.

I originally bought an HRM 600 which broke before I could use it. I returned it and ordered this. The relevance is that this one (HRM Pro Plus) is permanently attached to the chest strap. It doesn't detach with press studs for charging, which was the point of failure on the other model. The other difference is that the Pro Plus has a replaceable "coin battery" rather than USB rechargeable. The Pro Plus took a few days to arrive but arrived exactly on the day promised. Nicely packaged. Easy to set up. It took only a couple of minutes to pair it with my Garmin Forerunner 255 and with the Garmin app on my Samsung phone. Completely intuitive. It comes with the battery in place. I checked and the compartment is very secure and feels reassuringly well made. In use, the strap is comfortable. After the initial unfamiliarity, I simply forgot it was there. I have now done a couple of runs each over an hour's duration with it and it is comfortable. It is important to read the guidance on correct use. It is a good idea to splash some water on the skin-side of the contacts just before you start the activity. Garmin say do not use contact gel. It takes a few seconds for my watch to find the HRM and connect automatically, or I can connect manually slightly more quickly. I have not yet used it without the watch, but I have no reason to expect a problem. Garmin kit is usually good quality and well thought out with that one aberration on the HRM600 press studs. My heart rate charts are now smoother, and slightly lower in BPM when I was using the watch alone. Pleased with my purchase.

Garmin HRM Pro plus arrived damaged and appeared to be in a used condition. Definitely not what was expected considering the price! Unacceptable and am returning item.
