Better than a Window Unit
THOUGHTS:I live in an apartment and did not want to deal with the hazards of having an air conditioner that hangs out the window so I searched and came upon this. It arrived via UPS and I took it out the box and let it sit right side up for 72 hours. You can let it sit right side up for as little as 24 hours but I just wanted to make sure. It is great to reduce energy bills if you only have one A/C and don't want to run it constantly all summer. Great buy and durable. I would buy again. Great for a medium sized room or smaller See below for more detailed info.TOOLS:you will need a hacksaw or jigsaw if you have one. You can get a simple one from Target for like $7 bucks or via Amazon if you are placing your vent width-wise. I have a normal standard sized verticle sliding window. The only real assembly it the vent tube and the holder for the tube. Make sure to use the screws to secure the vent in the holder for a tight fitCONS:The wifi app works with some phones not allThe water tank (may) need to be emptied once a month or less - evaporator works in the right non-humid climate, you don't need to empty it at allA bit louder than most on high but you can still have conversations and hear the TV on a respectable levelPROS:Cool the room quicklyLive in PA and operated every day for almost 2 months before requiring the tank be emptiedI can use with my window screen down preventing the bugs from getting inThe vents on the front open automatically when on and close when off preventing damage to the fins., easier to cleanMore window space means more natural light that can come in during the day

Not worth $5, let alone $450
To start, mine arrived broken. =( The individuals assembling this unit were not paying attention, as one side panel was not inserted into it's slots correctly. Which caused the panel to bow out & the screw tabs at the top to break off. Mine also did not come with a drain hose. =( I contacted amazon's 3rd world customer support & spoke with a middle eastern lady named "mary" who had me on hold while she took care of other things instead of assisting me. Got to finish that text before i worry about my job. Before she even knew what my problem was she had me on hold for 20 minutes while she looked up my purchase. Then after i had explained the problem she muted the conversation while i had thought she was looking into my problem, but after another 20 minutes of that i thought that we had gotten disconnected so i checked to see if she was still there "hello, are you still there?", she was. She then said that she would now go try & see what she could do to help me with the fact that my unit arrived broken, i told her that i thought that is what she had already been doing, no response, i asked her why i had been on hold now for almost 45 minutes if she has not been trying to resolve my issue, she put me on hold with no response. Another 10 minutes later she comes back to tell me that i should contact the manufacturer, when i asked if she had that information she just said that i'd have to find it & contact the manufacturer. ThanXX amazon for your "customer support"! (drenched in sarcasm)I know that many have complained about a problem with the thermo-sensor & it causing them to get readings from the radiator coils instead of the ambient room temperature. They had complained that this caused their unit to never go out of cool mode. Yet (at least with my unit) once you turn on the unit & put it in cool mode, it does not display the room temp, it only displays the temp that you have set it to cool the room to, so i'm not sure where they were getting their readings from. The only way that the unit displays the temp of the room is when you turn the unit off. Either way i'm not saying that they are incorrect, only that i have not had a problem with it never shutting off.UPDATE:Updated 06/18/2019So i spoke too soon with regards to the unit never shutting off. After taking a closer look at the unit (since the side panel is broken & i'm still waiting to hear back from the company, since amazon support is useless & refused to help, it looks like there is one thermo-sensor on the radiator tubes, & then there is one directly below the exhaust turbine that is supposed to measure the ambient room temperature. The flaw with this is that the exhaust of this unit gets quite hot! If you feel the exhaust hose while the unit is in use you can easily feel the heat. So this excessive heat is what is causing the unit to never accurately get a valid temperature reading. The thermo-sensor should be on the outside of the unit away from any heat, not inside the unit right behind the radiator where it is hottest.UPDATE:Updated 04/08/2022I'm going to try this one more time. This will be my 7th time trying to do this update. Each & every time the review is just deleted. So one more time.So after i got my first unit & found it broken, i contacted amazon & they were of no help, so i contacted the company. They said that they were aware of the problem with the thermo-sensor, & that they were working on fixing it in later models, but they asked me if i could just use it in it's broken state. I explained that it was not just the thermo-sensor but also the electronics board, so they said that they would send me out a new unit with none of these issues. So when i got the new unit i'm sure that they were hoping that i would not open it up, but after i saw that the thermo-sensor was still in the same old spot, i just had to open it up. So when i opened it up, it was just as broken as the first one, & this one had a HUGE hole in the radiator, & the fins on the inside were completely smashed. I contacted the company & they claimed that accidentally i was sent a used unit, it was supposed to be sent to the returns department but some how got sent to me instead. So i contacted the company again & let them know, they apologized & said they would send the correct unit. So once i received the unit, first the thermo-sensor was in the same place & there was a rattling coming from inside. So these things plus the history of these units, i just had to open it up & i'm lucky i did. Not only did i find out that the rattling was coming from screws that were just bouncing around in there, but they were from the broken electronics board housing. & that a HUGE capacitor was just flopping around by it's wires freely in the unit. That is a serious issue since if it happened to make contact with the frame when the capacitor is fully charged, then that could be a serious problem. When i contacted the company again, they made it out to be that i was damaging all of these units & was just trying to get their units. The problem is not only did i have to pay for their units, but i them had to pay for the removal of the broken units! Because yeah i just like pissing my money away.On top of all of this, i also tried to ask them about their draining system. Why they would have a lower drain less than an inch off of the floor? Because you can't really use it in any room without a drain built into the floor. I asked them why this was the case & why not have a pump to move the water up the the higher drain hole. I also was curious why there was no overflow float to shut the device off if the upper drain tray gets full. Their reply to me made little to no sense. They said that the reason for the lower drain was because "they are supposed to be used to drain into the garden". Which unless you have a garden indoors & on the floor, seems ridiculous to me. Either way after they accused me of trying to scam them, they stopped replying to me.So if you get one of their units, be sure you open it up to make sure things are not broken inside & there are no electrical hazards!

Very convenient, great value, and LOVE the mobile app
I am in property management, so I've seen/used a good number of different portable air conditioners. I purchased this one in August of 2018 for my bedroom (approx. 300 sf), and so far I've been very pleased with it.PROS:It's priced very competitively and has been effective for cooling the advertised area. Where this product truly shines is in its convenience, though. The mobile app has worked very well even though it looks a bit dated. I love that I can turn on the a/c before I get home (manually, or by scheduling in advance) to start cooling my room. I can also have it turn off automatically late at night with the timer or scheduling feature to save energy. The flat top is also great because during the winter, I was able to stow it away in my closet and stack sweaters/clothes on top.CONS:While the noise level when the compressor kicks in is certainly loud compared to an in-wall/window unit, it's not much louder than your average portable air conditioner unit. Basically, if I'm watching a movie or playing games in my room, I need to turn up the volume, and it's a bit harder for my boyfriend to sleep, but I don't particularly mind. Internal thermometer also doesn't work--always says the room temperature is 95 degrees, but this is just a mild inconvenience since I just want my room to be cool--which it does effectively. My main complaint is that the drain hose is a tremendously tight fit, so if the hose is not connected before turning on the a/c and you need to drain it later, you will run into the unfortunate situation where A LOT of water will leak out before you are able to fully attach the hose.
