Nothing to do with pirates
Some sellers on Amazon seem to call any sailing ship a pirate ship but this is even more ridiculous than usual. This is a reproduction of a painting by Dutch maritime artist Willem van de Velde the younger, 1633 - 1707. The name of this painting is “Night Fighting Between Cornelis Tromp on the ‘Gouden Leeuw’ and Sir Edward Spragg on the ‘Royal Prince’ during the Battle of Texel, August 21, 1673: Episode From the Third Anglo-Dutch War (1672-74)”.The painting depicts an episode from the fourth Battle of Texel in which English Admiral Sir Edward Spragg attempted to kill Dutch Admiral Cornelis Tromp. There was personal animosity between the admirals and Spragg had vowed to kill Tromp or die trying. The Dutch tried to capture Spragg's flagship, ‘Royal Prince’ (in the center). In this engagement the 'Gouden Leeuw', Tromp's flagship, was badly damaged and is shown sinking to the right of the 'Royal Prince‘. The fighting was so heavy and the ships sustained so much damage that both admirals had to change flagships with Spragg having to change twice. Spragg was killed in the process of making the second change. The Dutch navy was fighting the combined might of the British and French fleets. The war began when Louis XIV invaded the Dutch Republic in 1672 seeking to gain control over the Spanish Netherlands. A secret treaty with King Charles II brought England into the conflict and started the third Anglo-Dutch War, a very complicated affair politically and militarily. But absolutely nothing to do with "pirates".The original painting is exhibited in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.

Perfect
Exactly as I imagined it would be, and works perfect in my space. It’s a little brighter than pictured but that does not diminish the quality
