Perfect Folding Knife
Ok, you know how many reviews start, some people complaining about weight, size and the list goes on. That is a matter of personal taste so let's skip that part because size, or weight does not have anything to do with the quality and build of the knife. The Vallotton is designed by master knife maker Butch Vallotton who is a renowned designer since 1984. This knife has classic Spyderco features such as the classic round hole to open the knife but in addition it also features a thumb stud which doubles as a stop pin. This means extra safety! This knife features a blade built of premium S30V steel and a blade thickness of 4mm (.156") so it is a generous, thick and very strong blade.Heavy? well not for me I like my knives strong. weight is 176 g. Trust me, you will not get herniated disk for carrying it in your pocket so relax.Handles are made of extra polished G10 that look like carbon fiber only a lot more elegant matching the polished stainless steel bolsters. This is an exquisite design, a strong knife, elegant, extremely sharp and has the smoothest action of all my knives.Yes, this is my favorite folding knife in my collection (I have other hand end knives such as Benchmade, Mcusta etc.). It's execution is flawless. So, apart from personal preferences in materials, size weight etc. This knife is built like a tank and every part is perfect. (Hence the price)Wait is not made in the USA? No is not, and it does not matter at all. It is made in Taiwan. Just remember that in Asia they were working steel already when we were still throwing stones in America so forget about origin prejudices.Would I buy it again? Yes in a heartbeat.Would I recommend it to a friend? Not at all, I want to be the only one with the WOW factor among my friends when I take out my Vallotton!

Vallotton Spyderco doesn’t mess around!
Certainly glad to have found out about this premium knife-nice its available also. The relatively short while I’ve been collecting it’s nice to find a knife that truely does stand out in every way. Upon getting a new knife you have to try the slicing/cutting ability of the steel. This blade is second to none. Not only an excellent grade but also the geometry of the grind. Most all new steel comes sharp from the factory but you can tell when there is zero effort you have to put forth to do any cutting chores. Absolutely amazing is the slicing ability of the Vallotton.Quality and detail explains the fit and finish. It is a little heavier than an average EDC. That is if you wanted to carry this knife in a pocket. I enjoy having it close by to open and close and see the fit and how a custom knife should operate. It seems as though everything is “overly built”, whether it’s the bolsters, liners or that nice hunk of S30V steel.Spyderco and Mr.Vallotton have created a masterpiece which I feel fortunate to have came across and get to enjoy for many years to come and many years after that in my sons care.

This folding knife is AWESOME! It's built like a tank and laser precision ...
This folding knife is AWESOME! It's built like a expensive Swiss watch with laser-cut precision fit and finish. The blade is about 3.75" S30V steel and it has thick, beefy, spine which slopes into a refined, razor-sharp, edge. The pointy tip of the knife is cut in such a way that it seems as though the tip could punch through hard material without tip breakage. Also, this knife is manufactured in Taiwan.I can't put into words how happy I am with it. The sound and the feeling of opening and closing this knife soothes my soul, "The crisp click and clack." This is one of my favorite Spyderco knives I own. The designer Vallotton did a Fantastic job with the shape and blade geometry. It has a unique look to it and just flows. I'm keeping mine in a safe for now, bc I can't bring myself to work this little treasure of a knife. Until i aquire another one, I will keep working my Spyderco Manix LightWeight as my EDC. Anyways, If you have a desire to own a beautiful, functioning, warhorse of a knife then this is it.

Quality is exceptional. Beefy thick blade. Pretty
This is a beefy knife. Thickest blade and handle out of my 50 some folders. Very good looking. The pattern on the smooth g10 is very attractive. Heavy, but not ridiculous. Your typical spyderco quality. Opens and closes nice with one hand. Blade is centered and hair shaving sharp. Of course no blade wiggle. Fits nicely in my hand and I am 5ft5in 170 lbs, medium sized hands. Will definitely fit bigger hands easy. Handle wise everything is smooth, polished, nice. This knife is that pretty I don't even want to use it. Is kinda like a big gentleman's folder. Is a different kind of knife from spyderco. I do understand it is a collaboration too. All of my Spydercos r similar in ways. This is completely different. Is the same quality though...exceptional. Their quality dept is on top of things. My 8 Spydercos r flawless, literally. Love them. Great company.

Jewel for your knife collection!
This is a beautiful knife! Definitely one for the collector, as it would be a shame to subject this jewel to the horrors of work and daily carry. Seriously, the level of finish on this Spyderco is flawless and of highest caliber. The inlaid bolsters are perfectly flush with the high polished G 10 scales, every individual part fits precisely and seamlessly with the others, function is glass-smooth. Lockup and unlocking are precise and firm. Blade and fittings are all highly polished--great job on the hollow grind blade, as well--and the overall impression is one of finesse. You COULD flog this knife while camping/working/bushcrafting, but why? Mine will never be abused in that fashion, as I have 'beater' knives for that task. I'm thinking that this blade will have a specialized appeal: those who appreciate the art of the blade and the vision of the maker.Yes, it is a design of Butch Valotton, yes, it is made of premium steel (CPM S30V), and it is pricey--about $197.00 or so--but in the end, I would buy it again, just to own one. It is that kind of knife!
