Change flash mode when loading
Could not get any of the 5 to program initially, even tried to reflash the chips, no avail. Seller wasn't much help. After much searching on the net I found that many of the 1MB 01 boards need to change the flash mode to DOUT, that worked for me.I run all my boards from a LiPo battery as well.

Do not work
These say they are a newer version. They will not program.

Bad Batch of ESP8266
I ordered 2 packs of these and 9 of 10 were defective. Wasted time.
