Enter iTunes Tagging. Now, you can use the Click Wheel on iPod nano to tag the song. iTunes creates a list of all your tagged songs so you can easily preview or purchase them when you sync iPod nano to iTunes. VoiceOver--the Talk of the Music World VoiceOver tells you the title and artist of the songs you listen to. And does it so seamlessly, you'll be surprised at how brilliant it is. Let's Talk VoiceOver What if you're listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist? Just use the Click Wheel or the controls on the optional Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic and VoiceOver tells you the song name and who's performing it without interrupting your music. So you're never distracted from your ride or run by looking down at your screen. The nano now includes an FM radio with iTunes Tagging and Live Pause functions. Capture a thought, a reminder, a class lecture, or any audio recording you want with Voice Memos. The new Pedometer counts every step you take. Or add Nike+ shoes and a Nike + iPod Sport Kit for the perfect workout partner. How it Works You'll notice how smoothly and easily VoiceOver works. A lot of thought went into creating an iPod nano that not only talks, but says the right things. It all begins with iTunes and its seamless integration with iPod nano. First, iTunes reads your song information, then uses the VoiceOver Kit to generate the announcements for the songs, artists, and playlists. Just sync your iPod nano to your computer and it really speaks to you. It Speaks Multiple Languages Your music library has songs from all over the world--a love song from France, a bolero from Spain, a pop tune from Japan. Luckily, VoiceOver speaks fluent song. iTunes selects the language and best voice for your song titles and artist names. It looks at song data, like the title, artist, and album information, then applies intelligent algorithms to choose the right language. For example, iTunes recognizes the song "Ya Viene el Sol by Ozomatli as a Spanish song, so your iPod nano will automatically speak that song title and artist in Spanish. If you prefer to hear that information spoken in another language, you can change the designated VoiceOver language for that song in iTunes. Hit the Ground Running--Or Walking With the Nike + iPod Sport Kit (sold separately) and a built-in pedometer to help keep you motivated and track your fitness progress, iPod nano makes working out less routine. Step it up with the New Pedometer You take your iPod nano with you everywhere. Why not use it to stay fit? iPod nano now doubles as a Pedometer. It uses the built-in accelerometer to keep track of your steps and help you meet your fitness goals. You can create a daily step goal or set it to Always On so it counts all the steps you take, all the time. Which makes iPod nano the ideal exercise partner. Rock and Run Your shoes and your iPod nano team up to maximize your run. See the minutes tick by. Watch the miles unfold. Hear real-time voice feedback. All to your favorite music, including your chosen Power Song--that one song that always gets you through the home stretch. Rock the Gym Take Nike + iPod to the gym and minute by minute, mile by mile, you're motivated by more than music. Connect your iPod nano to a Nike + iPod compatible cardio machine. Record your pace, time, and distance as you work out. With iPod nano, every trip to the gym becomes a new challenge. Sync When you're finished, connect your iPod nano to your Mac or PC. iTunes automatically sends your workout data to nikeplus.com. Every workout and every run is there, ready for you to review. Get pumped for your next run with recommended challenges, custom training programs, and maps of new routes to try. Or share motivation with runners across the world. Note to Self: Voice Memos Are Here The built-in mic lets you capture a thought, a reminder, a class lecture, or any audio recording you want with Voice Memos. iTunes: Your Greatest Hits It's even easier to organize, browse, grow, and share your digital music and video collection with the new iTunes. And now you can save items with a wish list and enjoy iTunes extras--bonus features on select albums and movies--like lyrics, photos, interviews, and behind-the-scenes media. They keep improving the Nano
I have owned 3 of the 5 Nano versions. I was disappointed when gen 3 came out. The screen-size was increased, options added, but at a compromise for it's new, wider shape...not ideal for gym use, bad "surface" efficiency for screen and controls. Then 4th gen came out and that was solved. Again, more options were included, some useful, others gimmicky, but fun. Gen 5 (THE NEWEST VERSION), has the talked-about video cam, which reproduces decent video, although not what you will get from most dedicated video cams or still cams. They managed to increase the screen size even more so - it seems that the face of the new nano is finally as packed as it can be while still maintaining a solid build, characteristic of the sturdy Nanos (Note: some reviewers complain about durability, but I think that you have to put things in perspective. for such a tiny thing, the Nano is as indestructible as you could expect). Menu operation and seeking is fast, usb transfers are fast, and operation with several peripherals is better than ever. In other words, I feel that many software improvements have been made. In addition to regular headphone playback and docking on a couple of stereo systems, I use my new Nano with an Alpine car system. This is the first Nano that I have used with Alpine that NEVER crashes. Gen 4 crashed once or twice. Gen 2 was a mess. After blowing out a few of the apple headphones with previous iPods (Nanos and Classics) I don't even consider them. For sports use, i recommend Senheiser wrap-arounds. For traveling, the newest Bose are a safe bet, if $300+ is not a deal breaker . I bring this up not only because it can be useful for those looking for good accessories, but so that readers know that the tiny Nano can drive the more power-hungry earphones without difficulty and to most listener's threshold for comfortable playback. The sporting options with the Nike accessories seem to be great for a select part of the market. I don't think that i will opt for this, but it still illustrates Apple ingenuity. The FM works very well. The recording is great. You would think that with so many functions, the menu would get too complex. I will admit that sometimes you have to "look around" to find what you need. But inevitably, you always find it. And the second time, hopefully, you know just where to go.I am a big iPod fan and the Gen5 Nano, 16GB, is the group winner for me.

Very Cool New Features and All The Standard Features
In most respects this is just like any other ipod. If you don't want to worry about carrying around a sizeable ipod touch or iphone this is the best choice.pros:-fm radio-external audio-big screen-pedometer-video function-thinnest and lightest ipod with a screen so farcons:-no am radio, fm radio kind of sucks-no photo function, movie only-ipod earphones are still bad. may fall out of ear.-earphones come without volume controller in lineI like this ipod. I don't need the features of ipod touch or iphone so this is the best choice for someone who wants a small mp3player. The radio feature is cool because it has digital information panel, you can see whats playin on the radio if the fm radio station transmits the info signal. Video is low resolution but its enough if you want youtube quality clips. Doesn't lag during video capture. My favorite feature is that there is built in speaker that you can use without headphones. It works really well for spoken podcasts.Pedometer feature lets you enter your weight and calculates calories you burn during walking but you might not care about that.If you want to buy it, just uby the 16gb version, its most cost effective.

I love this thing but.....
The first unit I received had a cosmetic flaw. I requested a replacement, and that one had a worse looking flaw. (silver 16 gig) I was thinking that it was an issue with the clear anodizing on the aluminum so I just returned them both. After that, i stopped by costco to see what they had in the way of 16 gig nannos. They had a gun metal color so I went with that. It wasn't to long that I found a chip in its coating as well so the next day I stopped by costco for a trade.Apple's quality control must be slipping. Also, when using this unit with existing ipod fixtures around your house or in your car, it may not charge. Apple changed they way they charge after the 4th gen nanno - there is a simmilar issue with the 3rd gen i phone too from what I understand. Replacing my old nano has become quite costly by the time I get a new case and an adapter for my current ipod fixtures.Overall the unit is a great piece for the money, I just expect to receive one that has no flaws if I am paying full price for it.

Very nice
I bought a used one and it had a poor battery life only lasted 6, then, 5, then 3 hours over time. Never complained to who i bought it from but ended up trading in to apple for a fresh one. Now its great. My only issue with this is the click wheel is kind of touchy and takes some getting used to and finesse, especially when youre amped up from exercising. Also when i have damp fingers, or in the cold, even if i wipe my fingers the touch pad has trouble responding. But this is only under rare conditions and im not sure why.One thing that bothered me was it took me forever to figure out how to delete videos off of it.And im pretty sure you cant delete songs using the device itself without going onto itunes on your computer? Id love for someone to correct me if i am wrong. Its just annoying when the same annoying song comes on your ipod and you dont know how it got there and you just want to delete it right then and there but cant.Anyway im very happy with this device. So small, lightweight, durable. It has a camera and holds so many songs. I use it on all my bike rides. But i keep the left ear bud out so i can hear traffic on my left.

Give it a chance.
Worked as advertized. I ordered one about a year ago and it didn't hold a charge for more than a couple of hours, so I sent it back. This one is working well.
