Gootium Canvas Leather Messenger Bag - Vintage Briefcase 14" 15.6" Laptop Shoulder Bag

Like jackets, I have been in search of the "perfect" bag, and this is not it, but it is almost as good as more expensive ones I have had (about 8 or so over the years). I have several bullhide leather bags and wanted something more pliable, but that could stand up.Positives:- Material (canvas) is of decent weight, the leather is real and not PU leather, and looks good if you like natural leather (shows defects).- Uses swivel clasps for the strap (an absolute requirement). However, I suspect these will eventually break, as my other ones have, because they spring together and connect at the bottom - I will likely manually replace these- The straps cover the magnets (I rejected other bags that had the magnets showing)- the inside is mostly well organized, it is nylon- the inside zipper is fairly heavy duty - but I do not use that- it fits my 13" laptop (I have the larger version of this bag)- it is not stiff and thus is comfortable when strap is used cross body- the grey color is attractiveNegatives:- the entire bag is single stitched. This stitching will eventually fail, I am sure of it. Even the leather attachments are single stitched- the magnets are practically worthless in terms of holding together the clasps - these are not "rare earth" strong magnets. I will probably replace them- the inside has no padding for a laptop- the magnet is in some kind of button, so even when they start to draw together, you have to manually click them in most of the time.- the strap is nylon and has no strap pad.Tried to add some up close pics to show the stitching and magnets.

Beautiful materials, seems highly functional, but suffers from one limitation that made it unusable for me. This was purchased specifically to hold a Dell Inspiron 1500 (15") laptop, but the main compartment is *just* wide enough to accommodate this computer. It has to be positioned carefully and "wiggled" to get it in and out; I want something less fussy, plus I leave the Bluetooth dongle for my wireless mouse inserted in the USB port - an the side of the computer - making insertion and removal that much more difficult. One inch wider and this would be in daily use.Other than that, I have no problems with this bag and really wish that I could have kept it. I should note that this was the second bag I purchased from this same vendor, and even though the listed dimensions were different, both were too narrow for my laptop. If you have a smaller laptop or want this bag for other things, I highly recommend it.

Really great up front but strap broke from the body after just one month of use (picture attached), and it's too late to return to Amazon. How disappointing. It wasn't weighed down with anything that would cause it to break- my husband used this bag for a very small laptop and a few papers.Update: I contacted the sellers and they were very responsive and said they would send a replacement bag. Hopefully it holds up better! Will update my review accordingly.

I love the look and feel of this bag! The inside fits my laptop with its thick paddedsleeve, as well as a thick sheaf of office work. I can get all my acessories into the outer pockets. This includes a black zip bag that has cable locks, ethernet cord and a few other things in it, plus my mouse and power pack. I am a short woman, five feet tall, and the bag is a tiny bit big for me but I don't mind because it satisfies my requirements. However I can’t adjust the strap to be long enough to be a comfortable crossover. I can cross it over my body but it doesn't hang on my hip. I don't think it is meant to be a crossover though so that is okay.

I purchased this bag simply to use on a airline flight because my current backpack is too big and bulky to fit under the seat. I LOVE this bag though. It is affordable and also extremely well made! I have been very impressed with how much you can fit into the multiple pockets of this bag and still carry it with absolute ease. I would highly recommend this for someone who is a student or has an occupation that requires some "on-the-go" materials. I also would recommend this bag for flying- super low maintenance and practical!

Beautiful bag and wonderful for bring to the office. People feel that my big is "oversized" though. Genuine leather-like cover. No logo. I also really like how there are a pair of hidden clip-ons and a pair of real buckles to secure the flap straps. There is also a rear slot for convenient access. Very well-designed bag.One thing though: it does (barely) fit my 15" SSD MacBook Pro with its hard removable cover, but really leaves little space for anything else. I had to squeeze my portable hard drive, mini umbrella and A4 portfolio (or iPad). It also made it really full. But I think if you have a 13" laptop, it can be easily fit in.But despite that I love it anyway and will be using it for a long long time! Thanks. It is one of the few purchases that I do not regret.

I purchased this bag because I didn't want the same black nylon backpack everyone else had and I got that. The distressed leather makes me think of something a pony express rider would have had 150 years ago. My 15.4 MacBook pro fits but without much room to spare. It has nice pockets and holds what I need without feeling big/stuffed. Build quality seems good. My only complaint is the laptop pocket doesn't have much padding. I'm not crazy about the buckles, but there are also snaps for the flap, so that's all I use. I like the zipper that closes the interior below the flap so nothing falls out if I set it flat on the ground.

I probably spent six hour online looking at various messenger style bags before settling on this one. It turn out to be the perfect choice for. It's big enough to hold a laptop a text book, student reports (I'm a college professor), and lots more. I wanted a leather/canvas combo and this filled the bill nicely.

This bag, for all that it looked robust, split on only the second time I used it. I had a laptop, A4 notepad, purse, phone, laptop charger and a Filofax in it. It split where one of the handles joined the body of the bag and is irreparable.Sadly I only started using it after the guarantee expired so I know I'm not entitled to a refund. I sent photos to the company but didn't even get an acknowledgment. I'm very disappointed.

If I need to take a load of papers, power cables, etc, I'll still use the padded, more traditional laptop bag, but this is much smarter when not needing too much more work stuff. The two pockets at the front are deep enough for the essentials from my handbag, so I'm not having to carry in two bags .

Really love this laptop satchel-style bag. Robust construction, capacious and stylish look. The distressed leather gives the bag a well-loved appearance. Really suits the 12.9" iPad Pro.

After 6 months my strap broke. Can't find a proper replacement for the strap. Hard to recommend.
