Readers of Princess Sultana's extraordinary autobiography, Princess, were gripped by her powerful indictment of women's lives within the royal family of Saudi Arabia. In Desert Royal she continues her story at a period of crisis in her life when she reveals her shameful secret - especially so in a Muslim country where alcohol is forbidden - that she has a drinking problem. The forced marriage of her niece to a cruel and depraved older man, and her discovery of the harem of sex slaves kept by another cousin, makes her more determined than ever to defend the rights of women in her country. Her cause is given an extra sense of urgency against the backdrop of increased dissent against the Al Sa'uds, and the looming spectre of Islamic Fundamentalism. Review: Great book but it's also the same book with a different title and cover! - I love Jean Sasson's book and I have a lot of them. However, my latest book "Desert Royal" sounded awfully familiar to me after reading the first few pages. So, I took a look at my Jean Sasson library and lo and behold, there it was. The same book as Desert Royal only the title was "Princess Sultana's Circle" with a different cover. There was one page in the front of the book but that was the only difference. The Table of Contents are the same. Both books are dedicated to Kayleigh. So, now when I order books from Jean Sasson, I guess I will have to check out the Table of Contents first and make sure it's not the same book under a different cover! Review: j3 - Loved all three books. Thank you both for telling us this this wonderful life story. May you both live a long and happy life. Hope to see a nother book soon.

Desert Royal
Great insight to the Muslim culture from the richer side..... Very easy to read, full of high's, low's and just out right appalling! But getting better with each generation.. You must read the first 2 novels of this series first to see how everything has evolved. Unfortunately it's not fast enough!

Excellent book
I couldn't put it down and passed it around to my friends who couldn't put it down either. It's a true story and unbelievable how these people lived.

A fascinating read
Thankyou Princess Sultana for sharing your story and shining a spotlight on the horrific way that women are treated in many parts of the world. Your passion for helping change this and improve their lives is inspiring.

Nice Read.
Good read. Do read. Although a little generic but it’s good. Not alike the earlier Princess but on the life of Princess Sultana way forward.

third in a great trilogy
This third book is just as a compelling read as the first two books. The details of the life of this royal princess gives me a good insight into the lives of females in KSA. I, through my career, have visited Saudi Arabia many, many times since 2004 and now after reading these books I have a much better understanding of Arab females who are born in the Kingdom and how their upbringing impacts differently from Europeans and how it affects their views and actions.
