Fjallraven - Kanken Laptop 17" Backpack for Everyday

This weirdly specific and VERY HONEST review may be useful for you, I'm gonna explain below:(I'm sorry if it's long but I had these questions before getting one so hopefully it helps)▸ SIZE AND WHAT FITS (COLLEGE/GYM GUY EVERY DAY USE)I got the 17" one because I'm tall (6'2" / 160lbs) and because I saw a review where someone mentioned they were about 5'10" and got the 13" one and that it was too small for them. The size was a little bit, just a little bit larger than I expected but it was still the perfect size for me.The bag expands a lot and it's very deep so it holds a BUNCH of stuff even if it looks small. I go to university and go to the gym every single day, I used to carry two bags everyday but after this purchase I've only been using my kanken.For context I'm going to share you what I put inside it every day:Three notebooks (A4, 100 pages, college ruled)A small ish book (for reading, it's about a Japanese love story lolOne small agendaPencil caseChargers (MacBook, iPhone, and bluetooth headphones)Towel (For showers after the gym)Toiletry bag (With two travel size shampoo bottles, soap, deodorant, and sponge)Small gym towel (You know for me when I sweat haha)Gym clothes (Shorts, shirt, socks) (All of the gym stuff inside a gym bag, inside the kanken so it doesn't like mess things up)MacBook 13" on the laptop compartment (it fits perfectly even if it's the bag is a 17")That's a lot of stuff and IT STILL HAS SPACE for more but it's important to NOT OVERLOAD IT, so I decided to just leave the extra space (generally when people have a lot of space in their bags they want to fill them with useless stuff they never use)THE SIDE POCKET FOR WATER THOUGH: IT FITS A SMALL PORTABLE UMBRELLA BUT IT DOESN'T FIT MY STARBUCKS TUMBLER BECAUSE IT'S TOO BIG AND THE POCKET IS TOO SMALL, IT WAS A GOOD EXCUSE TO GET A NEW BLACK BOTTLE THAT MATCHED SO THERE'S THAT.▸COLOR / AUTHENTICITYI did all of the tests I found on YouTube and on the internet to make sure this wasn't a fake (I mean it's fulfilled by amazon so it's kinda obvious that it's original) but if you have any doubts I can assure you the product you will get is 100% authentic. Now, I got the black kanken and it did have a lil surplus dye... but it is acknowledged and it says it in the tag. It says "This may have some surplus dye rinse in lukewarm water to get rid of it and make sure it stays cute" or something like that, I did and it fixed the problem. So it gets a 10/10The color it is a little bit lighter than in the picture, but it's still the best color ever: black▸BACKListen, even if my kanken is full of stuff it still feels very, very light on my back. I don't know why but the weight distribution in this bag is just amazing and it is very comfortable.▸OTHER THINGSI love it, it will probably be my favorite bag ever, it already is. Although, the tiny things to hold it with your hands like a bag... it just feels not necessary for me. The zippers are okay but sometimes it can be hard to open your bag super quick and you have to be careful (I mean idk, I know I am... it's not a cheap bag, so why treat it like animals?) The front pocket may seem small but it does fit stuff there a lot, the side pocket is not elastic or anything so you have to get a flask that fits there. IT SHIPPED 4 DAYS BEFORE STATED AND THAT WAS JUST AMAZING? I WAS VERY HAPPY!It's just a perfect bag for me, I made this review because it is expensive (and I had to pay around $32 for import fees) but it is really worth the money. I love it so much I want to wear it everywhere, and it literally solved my problem of walking with two bags at the same time every single day. It may seem small but do NOT underestimate the size, it's bigger than you think. I generally see reviews of girls that are like omg best bag goals so roomy but I bet you wonder what a normal person really puts in the bag to get an idea of the capacity so I hope you found this useful.(PS I'D POST PICTURES BUT MY IPHONE CAMERA DOESN'T WORK I LITERALLY BROKE MY PIGGY BANK TO GET THIS BAG AND NOW I'M POOR BUT I PROMISE YOU ON MY LIFE YOU CAN BUY THIS CONFIDENT THAT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED)

I opted for the 17" because I plan to use it for traveling between me and my 2 small kids. Having some compartments were important. I feel it's just the right amount, three exterior pockets (one small zip on the front, one large zip in the back, one slip pocket on the side), and one interior slip pocket which will fit a laptop. I don't plan on using it for a laptop, but maybe for thin books, I like having that area padded for your back. Too many sections would make it too hard to look for things. The boxy shape allows more space for packing and the padded shoulder pads are nice. It feels durable and lightweight, a criteria I had to have. I included some pictures because I didn't have good pictures when I was shopping for this bag. I like it and can't wait to use it! It did seem to pick up dirt (as another reviewer stated) when I placed it on the ground. Maybe adding some protective feet would be nice. I also like the top handles which gives another option handling the backpack. I choose the graphite color because I didn't want black but wanted a dark color. This works as its like a gray/blue color.

I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s a great bag. The only thing I didn’t like about the bag itself is it only has 1 side pocket! I feel like Goldilocks and the 3 bears! I tried the 13 inch and it was too small. I couldn’t fit all my stuff in there, so I returned it. So I tried the 17 inch and it was too big! It looks ridiculous on me being 5’2” and 95lbs, so I’m gonna return it. I think I finally found a 15” in the leaf green color, and I’m hoping it will be just right! I love everything else about the bag. You just have to find what works for you!* Picture shows 17” vs 13”

I love it! I'm a biomedical engineering student with a focus in pre med, so naturally I have a ton of books, lab notebooks, and a decently sized laptop (17in HP Envy) to carry around day to day and this fits all of it. The straps distribute the weight evenly to both shoulders and you also have the option of holding it like a briefcase (although I have no idea why you would) if thats your thing. Its also appears to be waterproof! The backpacks cute enough that you'll want to carry it around and its built well enough that you can be confident all of your things will be safe, and dry. 10/10 will buy again

Well, my daughter stole this from me after using it for only a week, but I got it back!! I also got a Maxi, which is a little bigger but doesn't have the padding for a laptop. I can fit my 13 inch MacBook no problem in the padded area, but I also can fit my larger 17-inch work laptop in the front area, in a sleeve (so it's protected). My water bottle spilled inside yesterday, and I was able to just pour it out and wipe the inside dry!! I do have a difficult time getting to the zipper at times (one-handed while I'm multitasking), but I think it will help the bag last a lot longer. Wish the water bottle holder was a tad bigger. It does show dust easily, but you can wipe it with a damp cloth and it looks great. I have one black and my maxi is blue- like the black much better!!

I had never heard of this brand before my 14 year old daughter picked it out, but I have to say I am impressed with this backpack. While it is expensive, I think this is a bag that could last her entire high school career. The high quality and craftsmanship is impressive. Good stitching, good material, and very simple design. I really like it. It's also VERY roomy. Has plenty of room for anything she could decide to put into it, even though they don't use books anymore! It does have a space for a laptop though. Great looking well-made backpack. I expect this to last a long time.
